New clutch installed - resistance?

Hi all - I had a new clutch installed on my 3i (at only 38K) Dealer said it was normal wear and tear - I TOTALLY DISAGREE - this should not have happened at 38K.

Anyways, I had a new clutch installed for just over $1,000 at a private garage and now the clutch pedal has little to no resistance - is this normal? It feels SO different...thoughts?

Clutches wear out based on how they are driven. It's virtually impossible to offer warranty on such an item, cause you can fry a clutch in a week if you try too!

having a super light clutch that holds strong is desirable? isn't it?

Are you saying your clutch is too easy to press? isn't that a good thing? provided of course that your clutch still holds strong and doesn't slip.
is that 38k as in 38,000 kms? or 38,000 miles? - either way, that's crazy early for a clutch replacement.

I have 197,000 kms on my OEM clutch - still going strong.

Was your clutch slipping when you had the clutch replaced? or did you have it replaced due to a noise/vibration?

It just feels 100% different then what it used to feel like. There used to be resistance on my foot when I engaged the clutch, now it is super light. The car has 38,000 miles on it. And yes, it is CRAZY early for a replacement. I did not ride the clutch - but - I am also the second owner of the car so who knows what the guy did before me....the clutch was most definitely slipping before I had it replaced. It would catch right at the top and the rpm's would go up and the car wouldn't move...it was a mess!

Do you know if the shop used a MAZDA clutch?
Non OEM parts = non OEM performance and feel!

I work at a Mazda dealer and Mazda doesnt even sell a clutch kit. You have to get the pressure plate, disc, and bearing separately. If it was a kit it was probably aftermarket and it will feel different than oem.
