New Battery fixes drivers electronic window ??? Can this be ?

Hello to all,

I am combining both my previous posts on getting a new battery and a broken drivers window into this one...you will read why.

Based on Ceric and your recommendations, I replaced my original battery in my 2009 GT that had round 60K on the odometer. Bought a Champion 24F for $93; an EverStart was $82, but for $11 more, I heard the Chpn was a much better bang for buck. The dealer wanted $179 without tax when they tested it 2-3 weeks ago and said it was degrading.

Well, in my other previous post, I spoke of the drivers window working fine in the morning about a week ago, then by noon the same day I tried it and it would not open. The dealer said either the door switch or the motor was bad. He also said the swtich was one set and if I had to replace it, all four controls are one piece. While the driver window would not budge, all three other windows were fully operable from both the drivers door switch and each of the respective passengers switches.

Now get this, when I replaced the battery, I tried the drivers window for kicks and HELL YES, IT WORKED !!! Could a weakening battery have prohibited only this switch from working while the other 3 swtiches stilled worked? Or, could there have been something in the the drivers door [swtich, motor, wiring, other] that shorted out the battery and started the process? If so, do I have something to worry about now? This just completely baffles me...is there a service bulletin that applies to something like this?

Finally, I replaced the battery in about a 20-minute process and when i turned the car over, all of the radio settings and window settings were gone. So, I guess there is no temp buffer on the settings, even for a short time - that sux, but I am all but too happy bc I am not going to have to fork out $250 - $400 for a new switch and/or door motor...

Thanks inadvance and pls let me know if you have any questions? I would appreciate your feedback.

Regards,
tstex

tstex,
A degraded battery has lower voltage than normal (13-v when engine is off, 13.8v when on).
Lower voltage would cause some electronics to operate strangely. Now we know windows' motors are the sensitive ones.
Glad that you fix both with "one stone"...

I got my battery from the dealer for 150 installed with 3 year free replacement. I knew that the original one was starting to go bad. It had that white powder forming on the neg terminal and it was getting harder to start the car. The original battery on the car was a panasonic. I didn't know that panasonic made car batteries. I wonder why mazda used a panasonic battery? Are the replacement batteries panasonic also? The new one said mazda on it, while the old one only had japanese lettering and when they took it out it said panasonic on the side of it.
