New and should I buy?

Hey all, I have been lurking for a little bit and thought this was a pretty upstanding community. I know you get a bunch of these but I have some questions regarding a used 2004 RX8 I am considering.

Here is a link to the dealer page. Now I have never bought a used car before, i have had the old junker my parents bought me at 16 (now 24). I have heard both horror stories and inspirational stories regarding some of the earlier RX8s. I have read the maintenance stickies and understand this is sort of a needy car and am still in love with it. What should I be looking for if I buy it? Is that price too high for it? It honestly scares the hell out of me not knowing how the previous owner took care of it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

An extra note: it would be a 4 year term and it will be my only car for that 4 years.

I don't know... If it was me buying it, I wouldn't buy this one.. The body is clean and the mileage seems average for the year, but the dash looks all scratched (could be dirty) and the rims on this are the 17" so it's not the GT model and is the base model (smaller rims/no HIDS/cloth interior/no autoleveling headlights). Also there are winter tires on the car. Does it come with a summer set? Also the push button to slide the middle console is broken. While the car doesn't look too bad I don't think it justifies the price. I'd pass unless they are going to give you a real good deal on it (more in the $8000 range)

Yeah, it didn't seem to be scratched when I looked at it in person. I would not have noticed the fact that it is the base model and has snow tires on it. Also I didn't realize the middle console button was broken. I knew that the A/C control buttons were cracked when I saw it though. I will see if I can get them close to 8000, otherwise I'll just go with a more traditional car :P. Thank you for the advice, it is greatly appreciated.
