'03 Vivid Yellow P5
Well I bit the bullet and decided to go with the Pro Racer GN's after a lot of research and debating. (yupnope)They were a little more than I was hoping to spend, but what the hell right? The specs are: Matte Silver, 17x7.5" with +48 offset wraped in 215/40-17 Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires.

Great fitment with Racing Beat springs...maybe too much wheel gap for some of you though. Just went tooling around the nighborhood and a little bit on the highway and the ride is awesome, but a bit more choppy than the stockers...probably b/c I got the tire pressure too high at 35 psi.

I haven't seen a P5 on here with these wheels yet so I though I post up some pics so you can see what they look like...enjoy!(cheers)

Oh yea, one wierd thing with the tires. On the sidewalls it specifically states "Do not mount on 7.5" rim." I looked at the application guide for a 215/40-17 and I swear it said between 7 and 8.5" Should I be concerned with this??? The company that sold them to me said nothing about it....

i definitely am in love with those wheels.

but for some reason, i pictured the matte silver to be darker. hmm...

maybe i will wait for the matte black to come out...decisions, decisions...

how'd you get the ugly ass yellow lettering off, btw?

Perfect fitment and great wheels. Good job. I had 17x7.5 and they looked awesome. I just love the way they fill the fender and take up all the room possible.

Thanks. The ugly ass lettering is actually a decal that came with the set and I obviously elected not to put them on. The color is not exactly what I wanted...I thought they would be more like hyperblack. It's always hard to tell by looking at pictures online, the bastards must use some form of trick lighting effects(laugh)

The dude I ordered them from screwed up on my first order of another set of 5zigens, so he ended up giving these to me for cost...lets just say they were less than $1300 for the package(boom01)

More pics to come(mswerd)

it might be a safe fitment guideline. it might make the tire a little bit more stretched on the rim, it'll also give it that look (the rim should be sticking out farther then the tire). i would just make sure the tires are inflated to the right spec. i've seen crazier stretches then that.

Most likely it said not to mount it on a 17.5" rim. Please double check with a flashlight. This is a common standard on tires. often seen in 16" diameters because of the common truck 16.5" diameter wheel.

Congratulations, i've been waiting for someone to pickup a set of these that follows such a great fitment recipe. hehe.

For any interested in this wheel we are running a pre-order special on them. They can come in 17" and 18" P5 friendly fitments. Let Jamie or Dave know and they'll be happy to set you up.

I must say, "You are the first P5 that I know of" rocking those wheels. they are a bit pricey so i also commend you on your willingness to spend a little extra cash on a well built and designed wheel.

Yea, you're right Richie, it does say do not mount on 17.5" wheel. I got down and looked at really close and there was a 1 before that 7.5 after all.

I thought I read that they weigh 16.5 lbs ea. With tires though they are definately heavier that stock...maybe 5-10 lbs more as a rough guess because I didn't weigh them. What's the big deal with wheel weight anyways...I mean it's just a passenger car after all.

No problem sir. That's what i'm here for. My experience with these types of things. This wheel will not be lighter than the FN01RC for sure, inch for inch. We have weighed and compared the 18" ones only and based on my approximations I think the 17x7.5 would be around 18lbs. But I could be totally wrong. Regardless they are lightweight all wheels considered. And a beautiful way to reintroduce the 6 spoke into the market.

Weight is the enemy. The heavier your wheels the more horsepower you'll lose turning them while accelerating. Having said that, 16.5 pounds each for a 17 inch rim is still considered lightweight and on the street I wouldn't worry about it, but for Solo1/Solo2 anything you put on your car should be lighter than the part it's replacing. Although it doesn't always work out that way, case in point my 20mm rear sway bar is heavier than my stock 16mm one was, but the handling benefits outweigh the slight weight penalty. Either way, nice wheel and tire choice they look great.
