New 07 MS3 Owner - Goodbye MSP

Well i went to drive the car yesterday and i will tell you this its definately not stock...I popped the hood and the first thing i saw was a Cobb SF Short Rim Intake, a Greddy Type RS bov recirculated, a SU black coupler going from the intercooler to the turbo, a TurboXS downpipe, Catless (Straight through) 3" Mazdaspeed Exhaust on it.....that car was ******* bitching took it up to 141 MPH the sales lady was ******* like don't kill me she was white knuckling the door handle the entire time lol....all other MS3's in La Crosse are all stock so i am already going to call this one out i now own the first modded/fastest MS3 In La Crosse....i've driven a stock MS3 yeah it was bitchin but this MS3 holy s***...the backfires on it were ******* loud and bad ass i pretty sure it shoots flames man....any ways it handles way better then the MSP 9in my opinion) the car still has to go through inspectation and a full detail....so it's pretty much sold to me i have the check in my hands...i am just waiting for it to be fully ready inspected and detailed for me .....so i will for surely have it in my owner ship probably the middle of next week! The car also had header wrap on it...but i dunno if it has a aftermarket header on it...probably will check it out soon though.

HA nice... good find

i guess the only thing is with mods most likely came abuse, but realistically no more than you would do to it lol...

i feel kinda sorry for the person who bought my MSP (whoever they are) cuz i beat the snot out of it daily and if they didnt know what the unichip switches were for and started flipping em, they might get surprised lol. at least i keep all my cars well maintained

i doubt it will pass inspection with the Downpipe,a nd they will probably make you pay to have it replaced with a stock one. Thats how they make moeny, they allowed the trade WITH the downpipe,a nd gave that person less money than what it was worth, and now they will make YOU pay to have the stock one put back on

inspection meaning saftey features....they all know at the dealership that it has those mods....i used to work there as a detailer...so everything is going to go great and i will be driving it by the middle of next week

nope... it will just be sold "as is" with no warranty most likely, with those kind of mods anything turbo/engine/trans related will require review and most likely be declined anyhow so even if they dont do that, your mazda warranty is pretty much useless imo. i've worked at dealerships for the last 8 years and none have ever MADE anybody buy something to buy a car, however it can be recommended if the customer wants the remainder of the factory warranty

a dealership cannont LEGALLY sell a car without the required catalyst that came on it from the factory

depends on the states, but i know wisconsin as long as it is clearly noted that the vehicle will not pass emmisions as is, they can sell it that way. if noted then you are signing off that you are aware of the problem and chose not to fix it so the dealership is not responsible

trust me, i deal with this stuff for a living

i know in VA they can't sell a car that wont pass inspection, and in order to pass inspection it must past emissions.. atleast a visual check... because emisions here are different for different part of the state oh well.. to the op

i would still be worried about buying a modded car, esp if you don't know the previous owner

this is true and i think that they are going to write the catalytic converters off for me...i don't have a problem with catless exhaust just throw in a mil eliminator...

the car is going to still have the factory warranty only if the MODS are proven not to be the problem for whatever breaks in example brakes or suspension or transmission...i am going to get that in writing from my former service manager

I bet money if your turbo starts leaking or you develop an engine tick or your throwout bearing goes to crap, that it wont be under warranty. now if you have say an oil pan leak or blow out a wheel bearing or like repairs, then yes warranty will cover that. but for the most part you may as well kiss your engine/trans/turbo warranty goodbye now.

modding ANY car comes with added cost for repairs and maintenance and sometimes a slap across the face when the manufacturer gives you the middle finger on an attempted warranty repair. if you cant accept that or dont have money for it.... dont mod your car

this is very true...but as is said if the mod is unrelated to what is wrong with the car...then it can fixed by the warranty....i wasn't implying that if my engine goes boom then that is going to be fix under warranty....pretty much the warranty is not going to cover the engine, exhaust...but i am sure that it would cover the trans, brakes, suspension, electrical pretty much anything not directly related to the engine....yes the engine is connected to the exhaust...but say a downpipe is not going to be directly related to why the throw out bearing went out...etc...plus i have a guy who fixed up my tranny in my MSP lots of times for cheap...i found the parts on here and then had him fix it....so i am pretty set on the tranny and almost all other parts ....EXCEPT my enigne lol if it went boom..........but it's still on stock boost....ppl have modded ms3 and msp with just a dp, sri, bov, and exhaust and haven't blown their engines...i am not turning up the boost or ne thing

handles better than your msp? really? thats odd. good luck with the thing though

wonder why they traded it in...hopefully it doesn't blow on ya.

its not like i am going to turn up the boost at the boost at the moment....so i shouldn't have a problem with that...the car didn't get traded it...it got reposessed by the guys bank...the engine should not blow with these mods... and yes to me the MS3 handles better then the MSP in my opinion as i took it out on my favorite road and was able to haul ass through the corners way faster in the turn and out of the turn way faster then my MSP

ah ha so sadly the car didn't pass inspection....so it's not mine ....i am working on getting truboost's ms3 ...either that or buy a stocker ms3 for cheap
