Neo iOn and iPod Thoughts

I've had my Neo iOn for about a week now, and I have some mixed feelings about it.

Thanks to some of the posts here and other places, installation was a total cinch and went very smoothly.

However, the Dension iceLink interface is utterly useless. I have been through the troubleshooting, etc, and about 75% of the time it fails to work on my iPod. Often a song will come up but no audio comes through. Moreover, while it is possible to easily (??? easy when it decides to work...) select the first five playlists, getting to any of the others is agonizing. Most of the time, the menu comes up but the selector is frozen.

Having said that, I think using the iPod UI (as available through the interface) is a workable solution. It took me about 10 minutes of fussing, using the instructions found in another post here, to get into the menu. Once I did, volume, track controls, mute, etc... all work just fine. You can't select a playlist from the CD disc controls, but everything else works much more reliably than trying to use the Dension system.

No ID3 tag display, but the iPod is right there so that is not a major problem. I think the system is pretty good if you use the iPod interface, but Dension should be ashamed of putting out such a buggy controller for the control via the CD disc buttons.
