Back to the Focus though, I'm not sure how to negotiate when you have to special order a car. I'm guessing they won't budge on the sticker price but they may be able to work with trade in value. There are two Ford dealerships near us so I might be able to pit one against the other. We laughed at the one in Manchester when they offered 9,000 for the truck. I was like...um, try like 17,000. It is an R/T with NAV. They still only want to do 15,000 but I may push for 17 if they won't adjust the price of the new car.
Looked at some more Foci last night. Think we're gonna go with the SE Sport Hatch. The 16" alloy wheels are much nicer than the steelies and I like having disc brakes all around. Amanda didn't like the 17" wheels, and for the added cost we can just buy some nicer ones later. She wants the MyFord&Sync feature despite all the horrible reviews about it in Car & Driver and Road & Track.
Nice job Mahk! Way to show those lane hoppers who's boss! He probably thought you were a Mac truck! I watch for them every day on my way home from work. I know what lane to be in...but I switch before there is any backup. If my lane slows beyond the speed of the lane next to me, I consider it a loss and I just deal with being in the wrong lane.
Made a deal this morning on a 2012 Focus. SE Sport Hatch, stick shift, with all the bells and whistles. Gunmetal Gray. Car is en route so they aren't sure when it is going to come in (a week tops). Negotiated a good price on the trade-in after a bunch of back and forth. Ended up being about $700 under "excellent" NADA value. Technically it was $1200 under but they gave us $500 off the car for Amanda's continuing education course transcript. She isn't a full-time student recent-grad but they're going to make it work. They were also offering another $500 off which we passed on because it required taking their financing. So in the end, we ended up below our target monthly payment. Amanda will save on gas, and on her payments.
