NEMOC Random BS Thread

Back to the Focus though, I'm not sure how to negotiate when you have to special order a car. I'm guessing they won't budge on the sticker price but they may be able to work with trade in value. There are two Ford dealerships near us so I might be able to pit one against the other. We laughed at the one in Manchester when they offered 9,000 for the truck. I was like...um, try like 17,000. It is an R/T with NAV. They still only want to do 15,000 but I may push for 17 if they won't adjust the price of the new car.

You can always see if the dealership will swap between another dealer. It is possible. As for special ordering one, you are pretty much giving them the ball and letting them run with it.

Looked at some more Foci last night. Think we're gonna go with the SE Sport Hatch. The 16" alloy wheels are much nicer than the steelies and I like having disc brakes all around. Amanda didn't like the 17" wheels, and for the added cost we can just buy some nicer ones later. She wants the MyFord&Sync feature despite all the horrible reviews about it in Car & Driver and Road & Track.

I test drove a Focus hatch Titanium with the sporty suspension and MyFord Sync. I really didn't like the Sync because it seems a bit sluggish and almost spot on with the reviews. However, the handling and just normal driving of the 2012 Focus is amazing. I wish they would make the Titanium Spec have a manual transmission and I'd buy that car in a split second.

Yeah, big failure on Ford's part for not offering the 18" wheels and sport suspension package with a stick shift. All the Titanium wheels are nicer than the SE options. I would have also paid extra for the auto-climate control which also cannot be had in a stick-shift. Leather would be nice too but at least we can get the heated seats and moonroof.

If we get one, i'll keep my eye out for those 17"s or 18"s on craigslist/ebay. Someone is bound to swap them out for custom rims eventually and i'll pick up a set cheap.

Man , the Canadians are slow at getting back, especially after I paid for the item its been few days and no word of acknowledge of received payment or shipping situation.

On another hand hot as usuall even in north NJ.

morning...so i'm on galen st in watertown this am...two lanes i'm in the left lane...right lane traffic slows for a car turning righ ahead...guy to my left, in front of me about 1/2 car lenght decides he's gonna jump in my lane...i'm watching for this anyway...he, with any directional of course, starts to swerve into my lane and i lay on the "bad boy" he jerks the car back and almost goes off the road....as i go by he yells "SHUT UP!" i cracked up! :)

Nice job Mahk! Way to show those lane hoppers who's boss! He probably thought you were a Mac truck! I watch for them every day on my way home from work. I know what lane to be in...but I switch before there is any backup. If my lane slows beyond the speed of the lane next to me, I consider it a loss and I just deal with being in the wrong lane.

Made a deal this morning on a 2012 Focus. SE Sport Hatch, stick shift, with all the bells and whistles. Gunmetal Gray. Car is en route so they aren't sure when it is going to come in (a week tops). Negotiated a good price on the trade-in after a bunch of back and forth. Ended up being about $700 under "excellent" NADA value. Technically it was $1200 under but they gave us $500 off the car for Amanda's continuing education course transcript. She isn't a full-time student recent-grad but they're going to make it work. They were also offering another $500 off which we passed on because it required taking their financing. So in the end, we ended up below our target monthly payment. Amanda will save on gas, and on her payments.

Awesome to hear! I am glad you didnt go with their financing because they will try to screw you like they did to me.

WOOT WOOT!! Went to a charity ride for my neice today and Won RED SOX TIX for Sept 4th!! Oh and a double pack of Stoli Vodka!~

I also picked up a set of Craigslist snow tires today for the MS6. Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSport. $200 for the set. They've got 5,000 miles on them. The seller had them on a GTI and sold the car after getting too many speeding tickets. I'm psyched. This is my 3rd set of craigslist tires for the MS6. If you remember, I developed a bubble in one of my snow tires in March and they were down to the wear bars. I'll still have to pay to get them mounted but these are supposed to be $160-190 per tire!

Good thing I had a craigslist alert set up to catch this...I obviously didn't have snow tires on my mind in the middle of July.

Nice Chris on the focus purchase. I am looking at that one as well at some point. What was the issue with the Ford financing? Interest rate too high?

I took theirs when we bought the Focus wagon. No one could do better interest wise and saved me 500 bucks. No issue with them, at least for me.

Cruising to Montreal today.

They were offering 4.9% but you had to stick with them for 2 months. DCU pre-approved us for 1.99%. when we called to see if we could still get that rate in 2 months they said it wasnt guaranteed to be available and we'd be looking at the 2nd chance car loan rates which are higher anyway...but they offered to give us a $100 gas card to finance with them.... So we got $100 off instead of $500 but a rate that would save us $1000 over the length of the loan. Good deal!

Just spoke with the dealership. Car is due to arrive at the Connecticut distribution center tomorrow. It's got our name on it. Should be in Londonderry by the end of the week. The Nitro has 49,951 miles on it. They jokingly asked if we could keep it under 50k. Fortunately Amanda isn't working over the summer so we're going to try. Plus I had her driving my car on Sunday. First time in years...and she didn't stall once. I basically told her she needed to use more gas and less clutch to launch out of first. Once I get her to stop shifting at 2,500 rpm she'll be good to go. The MS6 has decent torque, but it ain't no straight-line 6.
