I hereby repossess your car and put all your mods onto mine.

Mice?! Really?!

it can happen, especially if you live out in the country.. I had mice living in the air filter of my pontiac.

how long was it sitting there?? I can understand if it was sitting for a few weeks or anything close to that, but hopefully it wasn't from normal daily use...

my first "new" cah...
I of course had the much improved 1973 model that didn't burn oil until about 6K miles and didn't rust away until about the 11 month mark!

1971 Chevrolet Vega: Motor Trend Car of the Year
download

The Chevy Vega is on everyones short list for Worst Car of All Time. It was so unreliable that it seemed the only time anyone saw a Vega on the road not puking out oily smoke was when it was being towed.

Thats not to say the choice of the Vega as 1971 Car of the Year doesnt make sense in context. This was the year Ford and Chevy introduced new small cars and compared to Fords Pinto, the Vega at least seemed better. The Vega handled more precisely, was available in more body styles, and, with styling cribbed straight off the Camaro, looked more attractive. The Vegas aluminum engine block even seemed like a technological leap forward.

However, the aluminum blocks unlined cylinder bores scored easily and the (usually misaligned) iron cylinder head let oil pour into them. Every element of the Vegas chassis was built about as flimsily as possible and the unibody structures metal was usually attacked by rust mere moments after being exposed to, well, air. Its been 38 years since the Vega appeared, and the stink still wont wash off.

it sat for 80% of the winter in my parents garage. funny thing is i never got a weird smell or anything, which is why i was embarrased and quite suprised to find all of that in the cabin air filter and box.

ooh, ya than that is reasonable, I checked mine a bunch to make sure, my brother's whos was sitting outside this winter had a stash of acorns in the engine bay,(from squirrels I guess lol, not eaten just stashed) luckily no mice, but he had it before he bought it, but it had been sitting for 3 years then
