my car is FIXED!

all in all $1200, and I still think they should pay for the rental.

Regardless...might swap cars tonight, if not tomorrow...can't wait to get rid of the Corolla.

Also, I have the opportunity to drive to NYC and pick up a Mercury Milan to drive for a week...anyone wanna go on a road trip? :D

What was needed for it to be fixed?? I'm sorry if I missed something.

Glad you are up and running, what cost 1200??

based on my experience I would say she got half of an exhaust (which she provided) put on her car. :)

The car died on the Mass pike about two weeks ago...thought it was the disty again but nope, wasn't.

Ended up being the timing, which is the one thing on the entire car I refuse to do, due to inexperience and lack of tools. Had a shop in CT do it, and the MECHANIC did a great job...the secretary in charge of scheduling and customer service, however, needs her head examined.

So total...belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, cam gears, etcetc was $1200. Roughly $500 for parts, $600 for labor plus tax and whatever.

End result: My car is no longer a diesel. That's right, no more jokes, folks.

Let me repeat that...

MY CAR IS NO LONGER A DIESEL.

Car pulls AMAZINGLY, and feels so much better, minus the needing an alignment and all that. Still a few things needed before she's 100% but I'm just glad to have her back.

Ouch, I thought the P5 was pricey at 600 for the timing belt and associated hw.

And Good Morning All.

wow ash! at least you have your baby back and you must be happy!!(alright)
i'm hoping my timing belt holds out until this spring (138k(boom06)) so after i get the miata i acn then do the belt at my leisure!

Hey now, I love my VW! They switched to Japanese electronics a few years back. ;)

yeah, you tell her Josh!

morning everyone!

cool out this AM. probably could have turned the AC in our bedroom off last night and opened the windows!

Well the real problem was they had to diagnose the car...which was a few hours labor...otherwise it would have been cheaper.

what, you don't like electrical gremlins and faulty sensors?

plus plastic window clips so the windows fall in the door all the time and a plastic speedo chip that breaks and you have to remove the transmition to replace a $10 part. Sweet!

Tried no-ac but we weren't getting circulation (couldn't open bedroom door because cats were having their own indy-500 on the stairs)...so I put it on anyway.

Going to the Sox game tonight!
