NEMOC Random BS Thread

Took it to get inspected last night, and got stuck at the shop. Drove to the gas station mostly fine, but apparently at the gas station 3 of 4 calipers decided to stop moving, 1 not engaged at all and 2 engaged to varying degrees, and leaving the gas station was clearly something dragging, and kept the speed down to the shop a mile away. By the time I got to the shop the right front started smoking and was glowing a dull red.

The owner drove me home, and I'm headed back up there in a few hours. He is going to give me a bay to take each corner apart and get them freed up if possible to get the car back home. New calipers and lines all around next.

Tough luck Mike. Sorry to hear but I guess you gotta expect issues in a car that old.

Nice the owner let you use a bay.

Still fun.. Is that going to be your winter ride?

Yup, just for the winter, and probably only when i absolutely need to. I seriously doubt I'll keep it longer.

Tough luck Mike. Sorry to hear but I guess you gotta expect issues in a car that old.

Nice the owner let you use a bay.

Yup, I was expecting more issues actually. About the only thing i wasn't expecting was calipers deciding to seize that were previously just fine and free.

Just got it back home. The pins on all 4 calipers were free moving, but the pistons on the 3 of them were very difficult. So greased everything up and worked them a bit, and put it all back together. No issues getting it home. New calipers on order.

Great to hear Mike.

Rethinking changing the rotors. They are the original rotors and don't pulsate. I think I will just rough them up and put on new pads.

Morning all. I know some of you are getting the cold front moving in. Supposed to hit us on Thursday or Friday.

Registered for an autox with a Porsche group for next Saturday in AL. Looking forward to it. Found another SCCA in Dothan AL that I will try and run at in Jan and Feb.

ice on the cars this morning! gotta get my snow tires on the p5 tonight and then maybe call it a year for the miata. drove top down all weekend and it was great :)

Bruce, I'm so jealous!! I didn't get to autox once this yr! [emoji594] Put the car in the garage sun. I'm doing some work on it so it's not really stored away and it's still reg/ ins.
Met with my financial advisor last night by FaceTime looks like we can retire in 20 months and live rather comfortably for the next 25+ yrs or whatever the good Lord gives us. I'm still going to work till I'm 66 so I can collect my full SS bennies, but it will be a job that will be close to home, no real stress, you don't have to take it home with you type position. The company is a national concern so I can work in MA in the summer and transfer to NC in the winter months. Had to believe I've worked 43 hrs! [emoji12]

Nice Mark, it's best to find a job you like if you plan to work late in life.

Mary and I took a bike ride thru a local park. If you slow down you get to see some interesting wildlife, alligator, snake, lizard, and an armadillo digging in a ditch.

Sounds awesome Mark! Hopefully we can be at a point like that when I'm eligible for the AARP club. :p Due to a recent re-fi, our mortgage will be paid off when I'm 69. That is if I make no extra payments and we keep the loan the full 30yrs. Was a good financial move at the time as we got our rate down to 3.25% fixed. So I'm looking at retiring no earlier than then, would prefer to have no mortgage.

Also jealous Bruce but well deserved! And a lot of people need to slow down and observe what is going on around them. Society today is so damn rushed.

Missed hump day again.

Had fun in the park last night. There is a song writers get together going on in our area. Some of these writers have written for many famous people and get to play some of their not so famous songs. The park manager had some of them play at the park along with dinner and drinks. These people were awesome, final group was a guy and 2 young ladies that sang the best IMHO. The girls were very easy on the eyes which didn't hurt.

Cold weather hit last night. mid 40's today and down to 33 tonite. Will last for a few days, oh well. Temps should rise in the next few days.

Also went to look at kayak advertised in Craigslist. Never met the person selling but the pic in the ad didn't mention some cosmetic and seat damage that was visible when I saw the craft in person. Texted them and said I wasn't interested. Waste of time for me.

Hey Chris, whats up??

COld here last night, got to 34. Sunny but high of 58 today and tomorrow. Looks like SUnday to warm up.

Time to get some snows Sean!

We had a light coating, just enough to coat the grass and trees. Would have been great for Christmas morning. It started last night as my son and I left the winter sports meeting at the high school. He was trying to catch snowflakes with his mouth as we walked to the car. I suggested we put the top down so he could try to catch them while driving home. He looked and me and said "your crazy dad, top stays up". lol

Had a blast at a local autox hosted by the Sonnenschein Porsche club. Not a big meet, 14 cars total. Nice mix of new and old Porches. Group was very friendly, great bunch of people.

Picking up my new Kayak tomorrow. Hoping to try it out later in the day.

Looks like you NEMOC folks have a new track opening up in your neck of the woods.

They had an SCCA Open House about 3 weeks ago, and have got another event there this weekend (don't think it's a race weekend yet, just another 'get to know you' event).

I've gotta say though, they missed a huge opportunity by not calling it Palmer International Motorsports Park
