Well stupid ass discounttire can't get my TPMS on without it leaking so I need you guys oppinions on a couple of things...

Has anyone heard of the bands they use for TPMS? They asked me if I wanted to use bands and put the rubber valves on there.
my question is how reliable are these bands, and what are the cons. to using them?

OR

Should I just ask for a refund so I can go somewhere else? I doubt they would give it to me though, so it's not my #1 option.

Or should I ask for a partial refund and get them to ******* do it right!!!!

Hmmmm. When I got my new tires mounted on the RX-8s, they had a bit of difficulty finding the right set of gaskets and one of the tires was a pinch low at first. But, I just aired up the slack tire and have not had an issue since.

Sounds like they want to remove the TPMS sensors and replace with regular ol' stems.

I know thats what they want to do, but they wana use 'bands' for the TPMS sensors. I wana know if these bands are ok to use. Come on someone has to have some answers.

I know it's not your first option, but you really need to make them do it right - do not let them remove the TPMS. if they give you problems, threaten to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - you'd be amazed what that little threat can do.

bands?

sorry but...this is the 1st time i heard such a thing.

if you never had any problems with your tpms on your wheels before, then it shouldn't be a problem now(....unless they broke it when dismounting the old tires).

have you tried "tpms rebuilding kits"? if not, maybe you should look it up. don't force them (discount tires) to do it if they sound like they don't know wtf they're doing...it will only brings you inconvenience. just cut your losses and look for another tire place who can do the job right.

I'd get it done correctly. Not sure what "bands" are so I would ask to see what they are talking about...

If the tmps is leaking, I'd request they replace the seals with a tpms rebuild kit, if that still doesn't work, have them alternate which sensor is in that particular wheel and see if it's leaking only on that wheel, or if it is the sensor itself.

bands were the very first type of TPMS , I would say NO and get them to refund and take it to the dealer and have it done right.

Any time you replace the tires..new gaskets should be used, Im not saying its necessary, but it helps avoid leaky seals later. I had one start leaking about a week after I put new tires on, I just took a socket and slowly tightened it, then it was worse so I slowly went the opposite direction and it quit, it was probably hit when they mounted the tire I guess.

They ended up using the bands, and regular valves. They rebuilt the TPMS over 4 times each rim, and told me it was a problem with the rim. I just wanted to get my car out of there, and be able to drive it home.

dude that's strange, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having that problem. that's one reason why I'm going to take mine to the dealer to have the stuff swapped out, that way if anything happens they will take care of it.

I got a tire replaced at the dealer one time and they screwed up the TPMS on that rim. They ended up replacing it but it can happen anywhere if the tech doesn't know what they are doing.
