So I go to lunch. I get a 44oz sweet tea at Quiznos. The damn thing won't fit in the cupholder. So I close the door and sit it on top. Been there before, usually good about holding it. Of course it ******* spills. Goes down in the emergency brake hole and all over the seats. Thank god I have leather. Cleaned it up the best I could with some paper towels and 409. Luckily it's pretty cold here, so I don't have to worry about bugs.

Here's the thing, I want to take out my seats and take apart the center console so I can clean better.

Are removing the seats as easy as the 4 bolts on the legs? And from there how do I safely take apart the center console?

Needless to say I will be buying no more drinks if they don't fit in the cupholder. I'll be gettin the medium at Quiznos from now on.

well i took my driver side seat out once and it was just four bolts. i was amazed. as for the console, i dont know. good luck though. and fyi. on the survey mazda gives you when you first get your car, that was my only comment, fix the damn cupholders, because i had the same thing happen and it pissed me off. anyways.......

the seats ARE just that easy....remove the four bolts and out they come...

the console....

first off if you will notice that the cup holders are part of the bezel that goes around your shifter...pull back gently on that and it pops out...its only held in with some clips....then stick a few fingers in the slot that the Ebrake handle goes in and lift up..it also pops out.

NOW, if you look on the sides of the console...up just below where your Climate controls are you will see two button looking things...those are little caps that cover two screws....pop the caps over and remove those two screws.....

NOW, look into the hole made by removing the ebrake cover and shifter bezel....on the floor of the are to the rear of the shifter you will see TWO more screws...remove those...

NOW, look on the sides of the console near the very back. IF you already have the seats out you can see them...if not..you have to move the seats all the way forward to see them...pop the little covers on those two screws and remove them....

NOW, unscrew the shift knob off of your shifter, if you have a manual tranny, and set it aside.....

THE console is not completely loose ......just lift it up and back and your done.
