Ok, was cruising the classifieds to pick up some used times and rims and I was wondering about the following:

215/60R16 on SAACHI rims. Will they fit? Is the 60 too wide? The guys keeps insisting they'd be ok for my 3 but from what I can find online i should pass.

Thanks

215 is wideness, 60 series of the tire wall. 16 is the rim size. I believe you will be ok if are not lowered. But 60 wall is pretty big. 205/50/17 is stock for mazda 3's

xMazdax is correct the second number refers to the aspect radio of the tire and is a percentage of the section width (first number). So for example, the 215/60/16 will have a 129mm sidewall (215 * .60) vs the 205/50 that has a sidewall of 102.5mm. So you are looking at a tire that is going to be a little over 1" taller than stock.

If you are on stock suspension still I see no reason based on the information you've provided that they wouldn't work. The offset of the wheel is unknown and that could play a factor though. Another thing to consider is the 215/60/16 tire will cause your speedometer to read 4.3% higher than you are actually going.
