Ok. Basically, I want a turbo.

I can afford a kit within the month, but its such a huge crossroad. Since going turbo, even a small kit around 6 psi, will mean opening up the bottom end again. So I need some adivce. Do I go for it completely and drop in fordged internals and a full kit, just replace pistons and stick with a basic kit, or just tell the turbo idea to leave me the **** alone?

Those of you that have gone turbo...Did getting a turbo make you happy?
Wish you didn't do it and stop with the money pit habit?

get the basic kit and just run small amount of boost. i run 4psi daily and 6/8psi whenever i feel like getting more power. engine has gone about 32k boosted with no problems. unless you want to run crazy amounts of boost i wouldnt do the forged internals. am i happy? sometimes. i think about the money i have spent then it feels like its not worth it. overall it was a good thing.

How much money are you talking about here?
How much hp are you looking for?

I'll have about 4-5K and not much HP. Lets say 170whp.

Or I could just boost with 10.7:1 pistons and see what happens.

ive got an old spool kit and i boost at 8 psi daily and no problems so far, knock on wood.
am i happy, yes i am. would i like to turn up the boost and make more then 200 to the wheel, yes. do i want to drop 3 k and just build an engine up to handle the boost then get an EMS for it? no.
im happy with it as it is. this is what i have wanted my car to be like from the start.
i might go further in the future but i am happy now and i tihnk youll be happy too running 6 psi making 170ish to the wheel. dont go over 6 psi unless you have an EMS just to stay safe.... i always error on the side of cation.

Go with what we have and u'll be fine, BUT if you really want to have that rush get all the goodys ( fuel rail, FMIC,MBC etc etc. I hate the way my MSP will not hold the boost. Plus I have to barely give it fuel so I can feel the turbo. Anyway blah blah blah.
