Need Some Advice On Pad Upgrade

I haven't even got my MS3 yet, getting shipped strait to Germany, but having driven over there before (in other cars) at high speeds I'm already thinking a brake upgrade is going to be my first upgrade to the car.

So my question is I need a pad that performs good consistently at high speeds, or are the stock pads good enough for driving in Germany? I'm a pretty spirited driver on the open audobahn, so I don't want to have to worry about brake fade.

do a brembo kit! I want to see what it looks like.

or stoptech. that's a pretty sweet one too.

Ive had to lock it up at 140mph on the A6. You will be fine with stock pads for a while. The brakes on this car are exceptional. The fun places to drive this car are the backroads of Germany. The autobahn is fun for a few runs, but i actually avoid the bahn in favor of the backroads.

Its wild but you get used to it so quickly. Im moving back to the states soon, and im gonna get in trouble.....60mph feels like a crawl.

Yeh I would like to get the Brembo big brake kit, but don't really want to spend $1400+, so I was just thinking I would go for some high end pads instead. Any suggestions? Something that will last me, at high speeds over the stock.

Well PG has pads that are of much higher quality than stock. PG is where i go for everything because they really take care of their customers. Two things to know about performance pads is that 1: they are much louder and 2: more brake dust. The pads on PG are expensive, but Ken doesnt lend his name to anything that isnt worth the money. I dont have them myself, but you will be very impressed from what ive heard.

I really dont think you will have to worry about brake fade on the bahn with the stock pads... just wear them out and then upgrade pads... stock pads should be good for at least 5K miles - most likely 10-15K... I say if your brakes are fading on the autobahn your doing something wrong as there arent enough turns in the road to warrant such heavy, prolonged braking to cause fade...

Just keep in mind: dont go crazy on performance brake pads as the higher the heat resistance the worse they do when cold... some of the pads are really intended for track only use... last thing you want is to be cruising on the autobahn on a cold winter day and have to stomp on cold performance brakes which were rated for track....

Thanks Mocoso, To be honest I have only test drove a MS3 once from a local dealer. Between that ride and everyone here on the boards I custom ordered a new 08.5 GT.

I was planing to run the stock pads to get a feel for them, and make a decision after that. Just wanted some inside info so I know what mods to start saving for.

I still need to look into all the details on what my overseas warranty covers.

Hawk makes some pads for us too I think. I don't know if PG carries them or not.

I've heard nothing but good things about the hawk HPS pads for street driving.

also keep in mind that some of the better pads might eat through your rotors faster too.
