ok so i was driving around when i noticed that my car went really sluggish on me...so when i got home i had noticed that my air filter came off...so i put it back on but then when i turned on the car it was idling high...like 1500 so i took off the intake completeley and noticed a small yellow piece of paper inside the throttle body...i pulled it out and then noticed a similar designed piece of velvet like rubber...now these look like gaskets but im not sure..after i took those out the car idled normally but now my CEL is on...soooo...HELP PLEASE...i called Mazda but they said they need 2 see it to be sure but i wanted to check here 1st

Update

ok so i just went and wiggled the MAF and now it is fine..no bogging no CEL so im all confused....

There shouldn't be any gasket material before the throttle body. It's probably just trash that got sucked up. Reset the CEL and see if it comes back on. Mazda is going to charge you for anything they do.

Have you relieved the tension on your MAF wires by pulling the harness away from the battery box?

I could have sworn I told you to do that a couple months ago... (deadhorse

You better inspect the MAF wires closely where they go into the connector. If they pulled out once, then there's a good chance that they are damaged and will have to be repaired.

Can you solder?

Maybe. I know I told somebody to pull the wires off the battery box but they insisted that they had never had any problems with it, so they didn't think they had to do it. It might not have been you.

If I go back and find out that it was you, I'm going to point and laugh, though. (hah)

edit: You're in the clear. It was "cornut" and it ended up biting him in the ass, too. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118227

:D

Still... as many times as people on here have said to pull those wires away from the battery box, I'm surprised yours were still attached.
