car hasnt been lowered "yet" but it might be something i look into doing in the future, although im not sure how low i would lower it or what is standard. looking for a nice summer tire for though rims above, any suggestions?

if you want to stay with a stock OVERALL (no change in spedometer) diameter you'll need 195/45 R17s but it will still be .2 inches larger in diameter

Check out Rishie's fitment recipe in the 3rd gen brakes/tires/suspension forum, and the wheel tire calculator. Both should help you decide. But to save you some time:
205/40r17 will be easy to get and fit comfortably. Your car won't notice the difference in diameter. 17X7.5 et42 will fit with no issue. I'm putting on 17x8 with a 205/40 and I'm not rubbing, also not lowered. The only thing to look for is if the center on the hub will clear the center bore on the wheel.
Spoken from experience, your gonna want to lower it

Mine is lowered 1.4 all around and run 17x7s with 205/40/17s with no rubbing. 42 or 45 offset, can't remember.

Good to know I12drivemtMP5. Thanks Teeson for the info, i can find that fitment recipe due to noobing it up on the search engine, and where can i find the wheel tire calculator. and also i was told on on another forum that i need "a hub-centric ring if you don't have conical lugs." i wasn't so sure what thoughs were so he gave be a link .. http://www.semotors.com/products/Drag-Hubcentric-rings-73.1mm-%2d-67.1mm.html .. will I indeed need these? if so do you know a canadian dealer with such? Also maybe a dealer for tires? Thanks for your help and time

and my bad, I said 3rd gen forum, meant protege brakes/suspension/tires.

Place I work at is Kal-Tire, they have exclusivity with Nitto tires and Nokian.

Yes you will need hub centric rings (cheap don't worry), they're recommended regardless of your lugs.
Mazdas (exception miata) are 67.1mm, most after market wheels are 73.1mm (somebody tell me if I'm wrong) its a decent gap to fill...

Thanks alot man, and you would recommend lowering? are u thinking of doing it yourself? or did i misunderstand? "Spoken from experience, your gonna want to lower it"
