Need help with new Headlights?

Hi all,

Well very first post here.. Just picked up a '03 P5 SE in Silver two weeks ago.. I had the 3M film on the hood and Mazda Speed Exhaust included in my deal.. I traded a 2000 Accord Coupe V6 pretty much straight up for the P5.. Now you might ask why would I do that.. Well the Accord was on its 3rd tranny (POS) and I was having a few problems with it starting after long trips.. It had 80,000+ kms and I needed a bit more utility to go along with my Lexus GS4 plus the better gas mileage does hurt..

Anyways long story short love the P5 but hate the headlights.. I have a McCulloch Plug & Play HID kit that I had on the Accord (9006) but unfortunately it doesn't work in my new P5.. What is a good quality (Something that doesn't blow every month) direct fit HID lookalike H7 bulb or does someone have a sweet deal on a Plug & Play HID 4100K or higher..

Also any thoughts good or bad on changing the rear tailights to the carbon fiber type lights and I have custom 17's off the Accord that I think will work.. Does anyone have the preferred offset or know if rims off a '00 Accord would stick out?

Any advice would be most appreciated..

Thanks!

Ken

Got to take a pic of the P5 but here is my other pride and joy.. Nothing like Japanese built/assembled machinery!

Spectra Blue 2000 GS400 with Tein Flex coilovers, 19" staggered Work Euroline LS rims on Toyo T1-S rubber.. Plus other stuff.. :)

What don't you like about the headights? I find them to be excellent. Even Consumer Reports said they were the best stock headlights on *any* car, HID or halogen.

Perhaps I am a bit spoiled since the brightness and look of HID's I have had on other cars is far better than this car.. Just looking for a quick fix to otherwise a wonderful car..

I'll do a search but if someone has a replacement bulb they can recommend it would help.. From reading the manual the bulb is 55W can I go with a higher wattage without burning my wire harness up?

You aren't going to make the headlights any better with a different halogen bulb of any sort. Going to a HID kit would be the next step up. I've heard nothing but good things about www.liteswap.com and he's on the board here.

Thanks JunkPunch for the link to liteswap.com i'll be sure to check them out and perhaps place an order with them.. Do we get any kind of discount for being a forum member?

For the guys that PM'd me and wanted to see close-ups of the Work Euroline LS wheels that are on my GS here are a couple..

Yes, you get 10% off using the coupon code MAZDAMP3

We've had a few people on this forum use our kits with much success!

Thanks Eric for the heads up.. Just went on your website looking to order the 4500K H7 single beam HID kit but you are out of stock.. Do you know when you will be getting more in and with the 10% discount we still get the 3M headlight protection kit correct?

Also what do you recommend for the foglights (Bulb swap) to closely match the look of your 4500K HID?

Thanks again for your help!

Ken

Hello Savvy,

We have them in stock. The site shoud say "In Stock".

Anyhow, the Free Stongard offer cannot be combined with the 10% off offer though. We can work something out if you want, I'll give you the StonGard for 50% off.

Email me for details.

Cool thanks Eric.. I'm actually on your site right now and it says in stock now.. Strange how it said out of stock just a little while ago.. I'll PM you my email address and we'll work this order out..

Ken

I had someone else email me saying it was out of stock yesterday too. I don't know why, perhaps a glitch? I went into the store and double checked and it showed the right quantities ... o well. What is important is that we got em!

I better check out for stone guards too
