2003 mp5:( 1993 Miata
So a friend of mine has been looking at cars latley and came upon a 01 blue mp3 at a dealership. He called me up and said that its going for 11,995 with 40k miles on it. He said the car looks brand new inside and out. I really dont know how the pricing for an mp3 compares to a protege5, but how much should my friend really try to pay at the dealership for the mp3. Again, its going for 11,995 with 40k miles and is in perfect condition from what he is telling me. Im going with him monday to check it out because he's pretty serious about buying the car. If you guys could tell me if its a good deal, what to look out for, or anything else it would be appreciated.

Well...If it were me I would bargain for 10,300 to 11,000, but that's just me. Some people might differ but it's really up to your buddy on what he wants.

@ the dealer it will cost you a bit more...always...but than again the MP3 is becoming increasingly rare these days..especially a clean one! Yeah...shoot for 10,000 to 10,500.

they said 12 and i got mine for 10500 so fight with them mine was perfectly clean but you want a protege that is perfect with only 1500 miles for a good offer take mine

i know for a fact that the dealerships won't give more than 7300 in a trade for one in perfect shape** mine** and i bought mine for 8600 with 50K on it, so try that, mines 2k1 bye the way

There was a speed going for 11 on the boards I thought...
I would offer 9500 and then go up to 10000...

i got my mp3 for 6750 at a used car lot had 96,000 miles on it though.....runs great, looks even better!!

Even with all the money I have put into my MP3 I would not think of getting $12,000??? (50,000 miles). Doesn't that seem very high? I mean the sticker on mine was $18,800 and that was nearly five years ago???

I bought mine spring '05. One week the tag on it said $14,900 (Lexus dlr) and I test drove it. Waited 2 weeks, prepared to offer $12,000, but the dealer had already lowered it to $10,000. Took it home with 42k miles.
Today it has 52k and I believe the Kelly blue book lists it at just under $8000 as a trade-in. WIll have to confirm, tho.
How much the novelty of the limited edition cars sustains the value remains to be seen, but I have high hopes and so far I'm not sorry that I paid 10G's for it...
