Need help w/ BOV

I have the Hiboost FMIC w/ the Greddy type s. I had the Greddy venting to the atmosphere, but I didn't like the way the car would hesitate even more that way. I realize why it would hesitate more so I bought the 19mm adapter and some heater hose to recirculate it back to the Injen cai. My question is how exactly am I supposed to adjust the spring in the Greddy now? I am not running any dual setup, ts straight from the Greddy to the cai. I just don't know how to adjust the spring right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Simple. Make it so 4 threads are showing. (don't mess with the internal springs)

Thanks. That's how I had it when I was venting to the atmosphere. I just figured that there would be a difference. Thanks again.

dude, i was just going to start a thread about the EXACT same thing (cool) ...the type s making my car hesitate and all....i was wondering. I realized the all the greddy 19mm adapter is, is a reducer..and hey i can get those at Lowe's! Does anybody know the size of the type s? and the size of the recirculating tube on the injen? what size hose should i get? thanks...

The type s outlet adapter needs to be 19mm. And all you need to do is go to your car parts store and get some 3/4" heater hose. You should already have some hose clamps off of the injen.

There is a difference. You should loosen your spring. Since you are now recirculating you don't need it to be as tight. Leaving only 4-6 threads means it is tight enough so it won't stall when venting. So it vents some air but not all, and forces the rest to bounce back through the system (which is why you get a soft, light turkey when setting off under light loads of very low boost levels). Now that you are recirculating you want it to open as soon as possible and stay open longer so more air is recirculated, and less is bounced back. Loosen it up a bit.

Jonbig: I think the outlet of the Type S is 30mm, but it's been a long time since I looked it up so I could be wrong. YOu will probably have trouble finding this at Home Depot cause it is metric and I doubt the metric thread patterns would match up with the closest US equivalent. Good luck though.:)

Ok im now recircing the type s and it runs better. but the idle is still very rough and it barely blows off when revved from a stop...its very rare that is makes a ful turkey sound..just turkey chirps...man i hate this bov stuff.

Please don't flame me - I know what you mean. Every setup is a bit different with the GReddy recirculating.

I have the Injen, Hiboost FMIC, and 2.5 S-pipe back.

I have found optimally in cold and hot (and with air conditioning on) that 3.5 threads does the trick. It has worked extremely well for the last 3 weeks in all conditions and idles beatifully.

Also, you DO need it "somewhat tight" as I proved the stock HKS that came with the Hiboost was "too loose" in my situation and did the same thing when I put my GReddy on loose until I figured out the sweet spot for harness.

Nuff' said - I'm tired of hearing about this s***. 3.5-4 turns in all conditions with setup like I have, I can't speak for other combinations. There are too many damn factors involved. For midwest people this works.
