i have a 88 gtx, #2&4 cylinders have no injector pulse. i had corksport ck the ecm and they said it was fine. i replaced to dist. and coil, checked the wiring harness and all wiring connectors, and the car is still running on 2 cylinders????? anyone have any info to help me ??? thanks jesse...

Switch those two injectors with #1 & #3 and see if the problem stays on #2 & #4. That will rule out the injectors being the problem. Then you have to start tracing things back until you find where the break in the signal is.

yeah i switched # 1 & 2 , the motor still ran the same (on 2 cylinders) so i know the injectors are ok..

OK. So we know the injectors are good. You need to start tracing the signal through the wiring harness and find out where the problem is. If you've got signal from the ECU, which you said was fine, then you need to start tracing that original signal to find out where the broken link in the chain is.

Did you replace the entire disty or just the cap? The B6T is equipped with a hall effect pick-up (sensor) in the distributor to signal cam position to the ECU.

why are you replacing the disty and coil if the problem is fuel delivery.eliminate the problem 1st, test the injector connector if they are getting signal then go from there,or take it to someone with experience before you messup something.

I replaced the dist, because it sends a reference pulse to the ecm for the injector drivers. the injectors are mated in pairs (1&3) (2&4). i ohmed the injectors all were at 13.9, i used a noid light tested signal coiming out of the ecm on both sides of the injector harness plug it has signal, i tested each injector plug 2 and 4 have no signal, i checked restence of the entire wiring harness from the ecm to the main plug and also from the plug to each injector, there is no broken wires.... i'am not an idiot nor am i afraid of messing up something because i do know what iam doing. i posted on here hoping to find someone that has a gtx and to see if they had any problems the same as mine...any usefull info would be great thanks guys...

maybee pullt he feul rail, dose it have anythign cloggit up keeping feul fromt hose 2 cylinders, are the plugs or wires themselves bad. you said you changed the ditsy, cause that has alot of the sensor to run everyhtignnot just points like old school days. so when the motor is runnign you pull hte plug on 2 and 4 and it still runs the same. maybee the wire is good, but maybee its inside the plug itself not just hte wire behind it?

yep when its running i can pull the plug wires on 2 and 4 and it dosent change anything, i know its not the rail clogged the injectors are just not pulsing..

When you accessed the ECM harness connector, did you notice any corrosion/rust on the ECM case? If so, a leaky heater core could have damaged circuit board.

This isn't an uncommon problem with several Mazdas, including the Protege and 323.

well i fixed the problem, i rewired the injector harness to the ecm, and the car runs great, thanks for the help guys....
