Going from Honda to Hyundai is a big step down in reliability.
Mazda isn't far from Honda reliability.
My personal opinion is that it's kind of sad that Honda's and Mazda's don't seem to offer the same aggressive styling, performance (I'm saying this because the 2012 Honda Civic Si feels very "soft" when compared to a 1999 Acura Integra Type R I used to own many years ago), features/functionality that it used to in the late 90's/early 2000's. My car before the Civic Si was a Mazda RX-8 and while that had really good handling, it was in the shop a lot and resale value...well lets just say I got very little for it. In any case, Hyundai and Kia are building a lot better cars these days that are good value for money, and while I respect what Mazda is trying to do with the CX-5, the lack of features and performance (not talking about handling) when compared to the Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Limited AWD for the price point really pushed me over to the Santa Fe. Perhaps if they had brought the diesel over, that may have changed my mind but we don't know if the diesel is coming to Canada yet.
