Need help, changing turbo in a 2003 protege

Hi, I have a 2003 protege I have to replace the factory turbo tomorrow with a new factory one, I was wondering if anyone could give me some general information I may need to know on how to do this, since I am going into it kind of blindsighted. I looked around but couldnt find a how to on changing the turbo, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a factory turbo, that means you have a mazdaspeed...if that's the case, this thread would get a lot more attention in the mazdaspeed section...

Welcome. I don't believe anyone has written a how-to for this-- search just to be sure. However, if you're having to ask these questions, I'd advise you to take it to a shop.

#1 piece of advice,after you install the turbo, DO NOT FORGET TO PRIME THE SYSTEM WITH OIL BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE! Disconnect all of your coil packs and turn the engine over until the oil light turns off, If you don't, then you'll toast that brand new turbo.

It's just like installing a header except there is an oil feed and a return, real simple. I'd replace all the gaskets as well so you don't have to work twice if there is a leak.
