Need help, best tire replacement on stock P5 rims

Yesterday I got Kuhmo Ecsta ASX on 205/50R16 ... real nice ride, low noise and can't really complain about grip feels pretty much the same as the original Dunlops SP500, difference in size doesn't seem to have affected the ride and overall handling ...

This is my car with Hankook Ventus 205/40/16 tires. Great tires but you do feel the road a bit more.

it was a time when I really just needed tires and they were the best I could find for my budget. I'll drop it eventually but I just spent $500 on a new sound system! Next will be a tint, then a drop and then rims.

Solid choice. But why do you need all-season tires in SoCal?

I haven't updated my profile ... but I choose the AST's since I'm now in Austin TX and it had been raining like crazy (35-out of the last 40 days) ... so I desperately needed good traction on wet and belive it or not we got some ice storms this year ... : )

Yokohamas have been outstanding for me. It also convinced me to do the drop to make it look 'right'.

Kumho Ecsta ASX 195/50/r16. Great tires! Grippy as hell and man I can sprint through rain-soaked roads of Louisiana with total confidence. I would have gone with a summer tire but the Kumhos in that size were MIA.

I've got Michelin Pilot's A/S Sports. 195/50/R16. Got them from Tire Rack for $150/pc.!! Ouch!!

They are excellent, quiet, and long lasting tires. I highly recommend them.
They will definetly last you longer than any other brands listed before.!!

Toyo Proxes4 205/45-16 Love them.

Had Goodyear Eagle RSA 205/55-16 and they were absolute crap. Not very grippy and wore out completely in a year, less than 30k.

205/55R16..tall sidewall dude, the tire may be ok but the size is crap

Recommended tire sizes if you dont want trouble or rolling the fenders or a frenzy speedo OR keeping the stock suspension setup or lowering it less than an inch
If you wanna lower your ride...lower your sidewall as well...chop a 5% off of the second number of a tire size. Ex: 215/45R17 = stock ride ... 215/40R17 = Lowered ride

Someone have to make a sticky out of that..too much threads about tire sizes

195/55R15
205/55R15
215/50R15

195/50R16
205/45R16
205/50R16
215/40R16
215/45R16

205/45R17
215/40R17

215/35R18

and if you need winter wheels and tires

185/65R14
185/70R14
185/60R15
or stock size

The hint with winter tires is to have a narrow tire to slice throught the snow and sludge and to have a higher sidewall for cornering into that kind of crap ... get a 14 or 15 inch rim too get a higher sidewall and with this combination youll get the same OEM overall diameter, +- .5%

Do you think you could add 215/40/16 or 215/50/16 to that list...I know its smaller, but I am trying to get 215s in an all season tire. Any thoughts?

215/40R16 will have a bit less of sidewall but hey fit...dont forget the wheel gap
215/50R16 will be high but I think it can fit, (i run 215/45 with no problem in term of fender clearance) ..sidwall will be high with too much flex

but why do you want all season tires? dont wanna change them for winter?

you can have a smaller tire without any problem (if it have an equal load charge), but a bigger one is touchy

if you think of 215 wide tires with the stockers or any 16 inch wheels...go with 45 or 40 sidewall

I want all season because I am in Ky where it snows not enough for snow tires but I don't think I could work summer tires. Maybe summer tires in the snow would work, but our winters here can have no snow or several inches. I live in an apartment and don't have the space or cash for winter tires and rims...well, I might, but I don't know how my wife would feel about that! I'm torn between the ridiculous fender gap of the 215/40s and the sidewall flex of the 215/50s....I feel like the sidewall flex would probably cancel out the traction gain from the larger tire footprint.

Liquid Ag
215/45R17 is a bit tall but it may fit

Mazdaspeeder
215 wide tires will a bit large in the snow...youll be floating on it instead of cutting throught it. so i think it is better for you to keep the stock size or 205/50
If i was you i would buy Bridgestone Potenza G 009, its a really great all season tire. but that is me! :P

um, its oem msp/mp3 size. so id say that that size + msp suspension and i should be just fine
