Like the title says I am trying to get my P5 ECU re-flashed to the MP3 ECU map and my dealership needs the map file for the MP3 ECU to re-flash it onto my ECU. Can any of you MP3 owners healp me out here?? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dan

I've never heard mention of anyone having that sort of data, but good luck.

Last I checked the EEC-V wasn't too keen on people snatching it's data :D

Hmm.. didn't think of that. I thought there was a way to copy the map some how though.

It has been said in more than a few threads, apparently the dealer can copy the programming from a MP3 ECU and then flash that onto a regular Protege ECU. Most people just buy an MP3 ECU and swap them out. Just remember that if you use regular gas the ECU will reset.

What do you mean?? If I get my P5 ECU re-flashed to the MP3 ECU map and use regular gas it will reset my ECU back to the P5 ECU map?? And what do you mean by regular gas, anything below 89octane??

was just wondering.... if you flashed your ecu and just say ur battery goes dead .... wouldnt you have to have your ecu reflashed each time it did ?

Hmmm... Good question. I don't believe so. Does anyone have a for sure answer to this question?? Because if that is true I would deffinately just have to buy the whole MP3 ECU instead which I rather not spend that kind of money on.

Anything below 91 octane and you won't get to use the awesome MP3 map. Theoretically it reverts to basically the same map that the P5 uses stock. I never ran with anything but premium fuel when I had the MP3 ecu so I dunno.

It reverts back to the P5 map but does it RESET the ECU back to the P5 map permanently??

Yeah. Whoever said that is an idiot.. Basically he meant if you don't use 91octane or whatever then you won't get that increased performance. The MP3's timing is advanced so I'm guessing if you use regular (87ocatane here), then you would increase your chance of pinging also?

The MP# ECU does infact advance the timing to gain performace @ the cost of having to run higher octane gas. If you do infact use reg. octane fuel (anything below 91 oct.) the ECU will pull back timing so you DONT cause damage to the engine. Now obviously this will kill any performace you hoped to gain, but will not hurt the engine. as soon as the ECU detects high octane again it will set the timing back to the orig. MP3 setting.

so NO it will not revert back and stay @ the p5 setting.

and the idea behind pulling timing in the event that you use regular gas is to PREVENT pinging, not cause it :p

no no.. you can't reset back, the old P5 data is gone

Sweet, So I would assume then if your batterie dies or you unhook the terminals it wouldn't reset the ECU back to the old settings of the P5 map.

no the dealer will reflash the EEPROM in the ecu. the mp3 settings stay until you reflash it with something else.
