Need advice - Gauge Cluster or Engine Management next...

Ok. I've done the following with no change to the ECU other than resetting after each update:

AEM CAI
PG TIP
Forge BOV/BPV
COBB catted Downpipe
Turbo XS CBE

The car runs GREAT, no CELs or issues, just a bit of popping on let-offs from hard throttle.

I want to know what the car is doing real-time, hence the gauges:

Prosport Dash Cluster, Widebande A/F, Electronic Boost & Electronic Oil Pressue
-or-
MSD Dashhawk (don't like the idea of keeping it plugged into the port all the time)

Yet, I need to start looking at mapping and tuning:

Cobb Accessport or a Standback unit

HELP!!!

with those mods id go with a dash hawk or something that can monitor more than one thing at a time. Also how do like that set up with the cobb dp and tboxs cbe? i was thinkin of that myself.

get a dashhawk( most useful thing ive ever bought for a car) and get the ap. also one of the best things ove ever bought for a car. u can pick both up used off this site for around 700ish probably

nypz - it's an awesome setup... the tone/note is burbly and lumpy at idle, then just roars WOT. My fuel economy has gone down the toilet since I keep romping on it. hahahaha

ms3action - gotcha, although I like the gauges being more real-time (esp for boost) than the DH. I've played with one on another car and while it has more than everything monitored, I don't want to keep it plugged in at all times either.

Biggest issue - which first???

what about the aeroforce intercepter gauge?

I have the Aeroforce in the vent pod, stock look, and it is nice but does less than the DH. Why is it a problem for you to leave it plugged in all the time? My Aeroforce stays plugged in all the time except when I'm data logging with the AP. If you don't want it plugged in all the time then simply reach down and unplug it when your not using it. I suspect you just want the look of all the gauges in the triple dash mount set up. It does look good but will be far less useful than a DH which can data log and hook to your PC for reviewing. The triple gauage setup will cost you twice as much and requies installation, the DH is plug and play. No brainer unless your just after the "Look"

On another note. Our car already has a wide band o2 and if you want to read oil pressure you will need to do the oil filter conversion with a sandwich plate to hook it up. My next mod is going to be this conversion with a oil pressure sensor that will hook directly into one of the two extra ports on the Aeroforce scan gauge. I will set my alert light on the gauge to light up if the pressure falls below a certain set point.

Looks - admittedly that's part of it.

With the boost gauge at eye level and toward the front, I'm more comfortable with the pod idea.

The DH is either down at standard cluster level and taking eyes off the road more, or it's on a mounting bracket on the dash and looks kinda fugly. I'd rather have it mounted below the Radio LCD on a clean plate, then would have to run the ODB plug/cable under the dash to keep it clean.

Now it will cost more in the long run, but I'm thinking pod, Boost, Oil Pressure (already have the filter conversion and sandwich plate on order) and then Aeroforce since it can monitor/scroll up to 8 other parameters (A/F wideband, KR, Oil Temp, RPM/Shift Light, EGT, etc...)

I know I still need a standback or COBB AP. With current budget, trying to determine which is more important now as I will likely get the other within 2 months at most.

The Ap is the way to go now that Access Tuner Racer is out. Even the former Cobb haters on the other forum are switching to the AP.

+1.

getting some sort of tune, u defin need need something to monitor your lftfs knock ect. i have my dh mounted on the steering wheel with two sided tape and i think it doesnt look too bad.

You can minitor boost / KR / and other stuff with the COBB so . . .

I guess if your after the look get the cluster. If your after performance / functionality get the cobb.
