Aren't these locked to first car it uses on?

You have to drive the car 62 miles or 100 Km before it pairs with the VIN number. Which I think it's the case here, since the gentleman says in his original post that he drove the car for 3 months. So, I believe that it's not possible to update this SD card in the future, if you are using it in a different car.
