NAV System Installation

I am installing an in-dash nav system (Pioneer AVIC-D3). Does anyone know where I can connect to the the following:

- Car speed signal
- Reverse gear signal (preferably without going all the way to the backup ligts in the hatch)
- Parking brake switch

Is it really necessary to make these connections? Can't the NAV system get your speed by GPS?

Also, my Speed3 came with satellite radio (which I paid extra for), but I would rather take it out. Where is it installed?

Thanks for any help.

Car speed signal is only available in a connector in the back of the instrument cluster. It's a pain because you have to add a contact in the mating connector. Look here for info: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123699265&highlight=vss

Reverse wire can be picked up on the PJB under the glove box, pin J-05. Look here for info:

Parking brake switch can also be picked up on the PJB, pin J-04.

The sat radio box is in the back right, behind the panel on the side of the hatch area. Wiring goes forward to the HU along the right side sills and kick panels, and the antenna snakes up the side of the hatch to the roof.

Thanks very much. You have all the info. I'll also read around the link you provided specifically for my nav system!! Great.
