NA Tech Race to 100whp per 1000cc's

If anybody has twenty grand I'll get you a 360+hp 2.3l. Only problem is it would never pass any kind of emissions, runs on alcohol, and uses mechanical injection so it's not too fuel efficient. But it will run at 9k rpm all day.

if it runs on alcohol, it doesn't need methanol injection. "alcohol" engines are fueled by methanol (or, in rare cases, ethanol, which exhibits very similar properties).

Rules do not state that the car must be road driven, only that it be a mazda engine, and use NO power adders (this includes water, water/meth, or meth injection...because they are considered in racing circles to be "power adders"). Any fuel may be used - hell, go use nitromethane if like...

care to provide more information on this 360hp (i assume that is crank horsepower?) 2.3L engine? I would be interested to see its specifications.
 
Everything would be needed. Basically custom everything.

That would be a fun project to tackle.

Yeah, Mechanical injection. Thanks for the lesson though. Check out some circle racers around new england. The number 1 car in the series is running a 38* Mazda 2.3l, running methanol and +Mechanical+ injection. No power adders. The motor lasts 2-3 seasons without having to be taken apart. They have a website, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it.
This year I believe they are changing it to a 45* motor though.
For twenty grand you can have one too.
 
Anybody research into Vince Tiaga's mazda3 i believe i saw something on tv the other day saying its a 2.3 (maybey 2.4 cant remember) running well into the mid 300hp range
 
i just got a good deal on some awr full motor mount set and i was wondering of that will work for the KL-ZE swap?

Also... if one was to design a ram air intake using a pipe from the TB to stick out of the fog light and have some K&N Filter in between that... would that add some gains? i was thinking only if your going fast enough... you really wouldnt see it in a DYNO cause air is not really getting rammed in there... i was thinking i could do that for the KL.... somewhere around a 2.5" - 3" pipe like a CAI pipe... would it increase throttle response because it will be there whenever you need it.... it is some sort of "forced" induction by driving and air gets rammed in the intake all the time.... the faster you go..., the more comes in.... idk just throwing ideas in the air... i saw a car with TT with its headlights missing and a pipe sticking out of each one... obviously for the turbos but i was just wondering if it would affect the NA crew

Yes, that works. I've done something similar. That was actually my original idea, but I really like how my MP3 looks with the fogs, so I used a standard CAI and used some 4 in heater duct to route air from the lower front grille.

I've heard mixed responses on the KL swap whether it needs new mounts or not, so IDK there.

maybe i should get those ITBs from that website MakeMeGoFast found and make a ram intake for it... because i wouldnt know where the MAF goes when u have ITBs... that would force it to suck in more air now that there are more than 1 TB.... right?

Yeah that would be interesting to see. A hood scoop that directs air straight to the ITBs.

i wish i had money or even a job to get involved in this contest.
 
is it okay to have leaded 120 octane gas mixed with a little unleaded gas? ill be going to the track soon and they have 120 octane leaded... and since i wont have cats, for race use only, i can run leaded gas... i was just checking just in case i couldnt empty out my gas tank... and im sure race fel will make a difference?
