NA Tech Race to 100whp per 1000cc's

JDM 10.4 pistons,Integral stage 2 intake/stage 1 exhaust,supertech springs/titanium retainers, 3 angle valve job,mild p&p,milled .050",626 intake port matched, polished throttle plate, AWR 4-2-1 header, catless midpipe,Magnaflow exhaust,custom CAI intake. Unorthodox crank pulley,SR camgears, ,1.8 coils,NGK wires, Microtech LT10s, No EGR or MAF,battery moved to the rear,plenty of non engine perf.mods also. Figure if a JDM FSZE will do 170 at the crank i estimate 200 with a good tune at the crank, so about 160 to the wheels. Have 11.1 Wisecos and 5.4" longrods .5 over will install eventually with an LSD Spec clutch lightweight flywheel.

I am curious as to what all went in to your build..? And what kind of power you think it will make?

Twilightprotege was pulling about 140hp at the hoops with similar mods but lower compression. Its going to be all in the tune... the engines love timing, and i found on my own tune that where most of the power was made. Be interested to see what you can get out of it by tweaking the overlap on the cams as its something neither twiggy or myself actually ever got around to doing despite having adjustable cam gears.

watch the rev limit on the stock conrods - conventional wisdom would suggest 7000rpm is the "safe" limit (i run my softcut at 7k and hardcut at 7250..only ever hit the hardcut in 1st because it comes up aweful quick)... i believe Installshield confirmed the absolute failure point at about 7400rpm.

got a full shot of that header? The header on AWR's website looks different to the AWR header i've seen in person...wondering if the design has changed?

Did he break the rods at 7400? Yes the #1&4tubes are on the outside unlike the pic on the site. Tony told me why but I can't remember.OBX and AWR picture;

Cool! Sounds like a fun n/a FS! Which is something I didn't think I would ever say, lol.

How far down the road do you expect the 11:1 stuff going in? And what kind of 5.4" rods? I am curious, as that is what I am using in my build.

K1 rods,hopsefully in the fall I'll pull the motor and have it done during winter.

Don't recall the specifics but I believe in an effort to understand what the motor would need to spin to nearly 9000rpm he had the stock rods on a test bench and had them fly apart at 7400....

I don't think anyone has gotten to this goal yet, that I have seen..I still have not gotten mine together, but I should have no issue topping 250whp..

I would so love to do this with my mazda 3. but dont think i could fund it. *is sad*....however i still am working up my own resipe for it

Yeah, that's what they typically dyno at. Crank is 72-74, give or take. Remember that there's a lot less drive-line loss. You never change the direction of power delivery (ie: no differential, direction of rotation is always the same), so there's a LOT less driveline loss.

I have said it before..building a small displacement n/a motor is not cheap for the amount of power that you get out of it..doesn't bother me, but it is very true..
