Na All The Way

yeah coldie ecu tuning isnt cheap. i know good places charge upwards of $100 per hour, usually higher. mercury motorsport here in bris now charges $140 per hour! and i'd say the difference with the underdrive pulleys has to do with the ecu. i'm pretty sure the v6 is OBDI like us, hence the same pulley design.

and good idea tidy - take the opportunity to share shipping costs and get to your goal quicker! also, if several people get the same ecu, tuning will be cheaper as that'll be a base map to work off for the next person and so forth

yeah thats what i was thinking too... sharing maps between cars with similar mods. i noticed the US guys seem to be able to change their maps themselves with some software on a laptop. can we do something similar with our ecus?

What sort of money am i realisticly looking at paying to achieve 130kw at the fly

I am now in the phase of deciding what i am doing with my car i have heard alot of stories from both the na and forced induction people and i want to make a decision that i will stick with NA? or Forced Induction?

I am swaying towards NA because it is a more gradual process that is more bank account friendly as it isnt a sharpe blow at one time.

So what will i pay for the following things and where will i go to get them.and are my plans realistic.

Headers- (i would have liked to go with the OBX headers but i missed that boat with the group buy) so i will try PACE MAKERS $320 fitted 5-8 kw power gain with a 2/1/4" system that will cost me a further $300 fitted.

CAI- i am tending towards injen as they are the most commonly used and i think i can get one from street dreams in sydney for $440 i am guessing a 3-5kw power gain

Chip- There are so many products out there but i am leaning towards Unichip as they are the best known brand i know of and i am guessing it will cost me about $1300-$1500 including tunning which i am guessing a 10-13kw power gain.

Cams- I have no idea about but i will safley assume they are not cheap but the power gain would be in the area of 10-15kw ??????????,

A grand total of $2560 + the price for cams and power gain of 28kw-40kw?????

I have no idea i am just speculating but i would like to see a 40kw power gain for less than $3500 as for a further $4000 i can have 100kw power gain its just so hard to decide????

with what you have planned, i see no reason why you wont be hitting 130whp, and depending on how good the tuner is, probably 140whp

cams you're looking at $800ish. and atleast you wont have to regrind your intake cam as i already have pretty good specs you can copy. maybe if a few people are interested we could get a bit of a group buy happening??? (made in oz ofcourse)

tidy no worries, kymp5 said he's not shipping the ractive headers overseas anyways, so i'll have to find someone in the states who can fwd it on to me first.

ahb11m - ahh u mean ur wondering if the obx header will fit your 1.6? i know it fits the 1.8, but probably not the 1.6 :(

yeah but i wanna see what the manifold is like, coz i know the midpipe, and exhaust are all teh same, but i ge standard with no resonator

cool let me know how it goes. i remember reading some other threads about whether there are headers available for 1.6 engines, i don't recall if they found any tho.

have you upgraded any of your exhaust yet?

2.25" cat back and hiflow cat (my cat caved in on itself - so why replace when you can upgrade!!) and sport muffler (which looks v. standard... i like that!!)

oh yeah and the kartboy hangers, coz my exhaust was rubbing my rear bumber

Its a real b**** if u dont get this special 3M spray..

I had to use my fingernails to remove the glue once mouldings were off.

I estimate at least 90min per door !I took several breaks.
