Well as you know i spent a while swapping out the motors. I've never really had much practice, nor have i even gone much further than an oil change or so. However, A couple friends and I swapped the motors and it was FUN. Clintt(Philly Orange) and Sean(Moxnix) came to help with the install.
I bought the motor from Clintt, and Sean just wanted to help, for future reference. He is going to need to swap a motor into his msp. I belive he blew his motor.
Just so you know. The car looks like s*** at the moment. It was in a shop to get some custom body work done, however, they had it for 6 months and did nothing but **** it up. It will be redone soon.
This weekend, here is what we have done.
Disassembled the old motor from the engine bay, and unhooked all wires including sensors and the tranny from the car. We took out the old motor, tranny, axles. Removed all seats and carpet from the car. All door sills, and most moldings. Took off the old fenders. Soldered the lambo door wires, instead of the previous crimped wires. we fixed the trunk, so that it opens, however, we have YET to attach it to the trunk release.I think we are missing a part b/c of the body shop.Drained all water from trunk(body shop **** up). Cut out the body kit to fit the intercooler. Took out the hood release, and support. Installed new motor/tranny/axels..connected all wires.bolted up the old crank pulley. Bolted up the intercooler.Installed hood pins on the cf hood.
Some problems that we ran into, was finding the wires to RE attach..after the install. We had a leak in the clutch line, when further investigated, found out that we had forgotten to tighted up the bolt.fixed.the intake cam gear was not tightened down. It broke the small stud on the cam(where the cam gear attaches), and jumped timing.I have to order some new cams. I will probably order the SRMOTORSPORTS.COM cam and cam gear set. 789.00 for all.
Anyways, here are some of the pictures.
