MZ3 / MS3 custom sub enclosure on ebay

i use the trunk area all the time, i have 2 small kids and im always hauling stuff back there. No need for protection...lol. I have 2 small dings in the cone now, but ive had this setup for over a year now. All the panels are made of fiberglass and are tough and the speaker is composite/metal material. I have a knob on my dash next to my steering wheel to control the gain of it as well, i can just turn it off if i have a load back there.

No offense bro but... this sort of reminds me of my golf game. I wack the s*** out of the ball and drive it 250+ yards usually down the fairway. Then proceed to hack the ball into the woods and double bogey.

You put all that effort into building the box and I'm assuming the sub was a few bills... why not just finish the job and slap a grille on it? Leaving that poor sub out there unprotecting is just asking for trouble. I've seen some MS3s with gigantic boxes in the back. To me, that completley defeats the purpose of having a hatch! I cannot wait to load mine up with... whatever. Having a 70lb dual 12" sub box in the back obviously makes that difficult... so at least you didn't do that! But your sub is still left unprotected... so I'm not sure what's worse! lol

Anyway... do what you want! hell, it's your money. I'm just sayin

FixAFlat? Your talking about that foam thing you spray into the tire? Don't use any of that stuff if you have TPMS. It'll foul the sensors then you'll have to buy new ones. $200+ each.

I just threw in a single 12" in a single box which I can disconnect when the full hatch is needed.

Thanks for the heads up. I made the mistake of using that stuff once on a non TPMS car once... worked amazingly well but when I brought it to the tireshop to get patched... they said I was SOL and had to buy a new one.

grilles are ugly, and primarily for prefab best buy boxes IMO...your right though, to each is own. i cant wait to see pics of your install too....

Yeah OK. I've been doing stereo installs for over 25 years and we always use grills on subs or totally enclose them.

are you guys dead set on a grille for my speaker or what....i dont want one, your opinion is not going to change my mind, you guys can say whatever you want. GET OVER IT. You all can keep going to egay for your stuff and be happy. if you all like grills so much, go glue some to your car or something..who cares(stfu)

Like I said... do whatever you want. It's not my car/sub/money so wtf would I give a s***? I was just saying... why go through all the trouble and not protect your sub? It would be like finally getting a date with a chick that's way out of your league... so you make sure everything is just right. Get yourself some new duds, get a 'fancy' haircut, make the perfect mix for when you pick her up in the Vette (that you rented) and then, after dinner at a ridiculously overpriced french restaurant... wi wi... somehow you roll a 7 and she agrees to go back t your place. Right when you're about to show her your new... umm.. haircut, you realize.... NO PROTECTION!!!!

She of course, being the superhot classy chick she is, insists you wear one... so you sprint down to the local 7-11 butt naked only to come back to... a note. "sorry, I just got a text from my ex... johnny football hero... he wants to get together and bang my brains out. Unlike you, he has protection. Thanks for the cheesy poem about how much you love my personality loser."

So you see... protection is important in all phases of the game. not just with subs

We're not telling you to put one on, just saying you're dumb not to.

Wow, I can't believe how you both are so pushy with your opinions. Why would you care what he does? I don't have covers on my subs either and I carry stuff in my hatch. If some thing happens to them I say oh well and buy another one. Except that has never happened. Grill covers are ugly as hell.

dude... lighten up. I was trying to make a joke out of it. obviously it went over like a lead balloon. as I've said at least a couple of times... I could give a rat's ass whether he puts a grille on or not. I/we simply were (yes) voicing our opinions on the matter. but make no mistake, I certainly don't 'care' what he does and would never tell anyone (at least on this forum) what to do with their car.

but yes... you have a point. by-in-large... most grilles are ugly. I'm hoping I can get a simple black mesh grille (like the one that came on my msp). It won't necessarily offer the same level of protection as a hideous plastic alien monstrosity... but then again, I don't exactly plan on having pitch forks rolling around back there. ... then again, you never know.
