I have a 2006 Mazda3 s 5-door Touring (purchased 12/05). It has a manual transmission and the color is Titanium Gray with Black/red checked interior.
It's funny how I ended up with the 5-door. I was shopping for the 's' Touring 4-door (with manual transmission in Titanitum Gray) and it was nowhere to be found! The 's' Sport 4-door was plentiful, but it lacked the 17" alloys that I wanted!
Then I realized that ALL U.S. versions of the 5-door come with the 17" wheels. So I decided that I'd take a 5-door if I found one in the right color and with manual transmission. I didn't want leather, so that slowed down the search (many Touring models had optional leather). But I finally found the perfect 5-door in Knoxville, TN (200 miles away). The rest is history...
After driving it for 3.5 years now, I honestly don't think I can ever go back to a conventional sedan/coupe with a trunk (boot). The 5-door (hatchback, wagon or whatever you chooose to call it) is so useful and versatile! It's like having a small SUV when I need lots of cargo room and fold down the back seat. The cargo floor has a tray and divider built in to hold things in place. It's like the Swiss Army Knife of compact cars, IMO. (cool)
