My Two Month Review On Cp-e Intake For The 6s

Its not an intake sigh. Its an airfuel controller and maf controller. It just happens to come with a large pipe that the maf controller is customized for.

The reason it nets 20 whp and 20 ft/lbs of torque is due to the Airfuel ratio moving from 9.7:1 (yes its that rich) to around 13:1.

OK Crossbow (and others) You have convinced me! I will save and hopefully have some bonus money left this year to buy the CP-e kit.

Thanks for the testing guys

good it's about time, oh and you can run 87 no problems thats what its meant to run on. Now that we have discussed this matter lets go on to more important matters like getting the new mazdaspeed6 hid headlight system yes please!! whos with me?

some V6 owners(not stock ;) ) had to run 89...ask crossbow for firther explination on why that was.

20 na whp for $500 is a steal. btw removing your cat or getting a highflow with make more power difference than a catback exhuast and costs less.

Ha when I told some guys it was 13:1, they immediately responded "why so rich?". Either way, there are just as many issues with running with 9.7:1 (stock AF) as there would be with 13:1. I'd actually say there are LESS issues with 13:1 as the precats are no longer being doused with fuel. There have been a number of precats being destroyed from the 6's extremely rich fuel mixture.

I mean the damn cat's are litearly dripping with gas sometimes. Technically the design is that the fuel is supposed to "cool" the cats with the excess gas...but sometimes the gas ignites and cat temps go off the wall and greatly reduce their longevity.

Stupid EPA2 120k miles cat bs.

Btw Used Oil Analysis's with the CP-E have shown no increase in engine wear from the extra power and/or fuel ratio. In fact it looks like fuel dilution lowered slightly. Either way, this is an engine modification which includes changes to the vehicles stock mapping, so as always there is some level of risk involved. As such no one has had any issues as of yet. I for one am hoping to get rid of my stock exhaust system with the wagner headers to remove all worry about those stupid precats.

As for the 89 octane jaz...thats for owners with intakes NOT running the CP-E. The CP-E mafci corrects the A/F ratio across the entire curve...if you run an injen or AEM intake standardly (throwing a p0171 or p0174 cel) the A/F can lean out to around 16:1 under 3k rpms (under light load) which can cause pinging while cruising on a very hot day, and throws the check engine lights. Running 89 octane circumvents the pinging issue.

The CP-E is really awesome. My friend Tony (AzMz6) has one on his 6s.

Man what a difference in horsepower. He is getting 21 mpg too. We installed it in his driveway and he took it for a test drive. There is a warning about learning how to drive your 6 all over again. Its there for a reason. The car moves a lot faster than before.

Tony also has the MAGNAFLOW exhaust. Wow that car sounds so awesome with all that air pumping through it.

My next Mazda will most likely be the 6.

Is there wire splicing involved with the MAFci part of this?

The intake sounds nice and its good to know that they are trying to get the A/F ratios in a better area than 9.7:1...

Crud, I didn't even that rich on my MP3 turbo'd junker....

Yeah, CPE's MAFci is the the best for the 6s, have one on the wagon and the hatch! Just think what it will be like when it is matched up with the headers!?!

Can't wait! My dealership, is the one and only Mazda dealership in the country that carries their products, it is that good! It is by far the best investment that you can make for the V6, no CEL's!!

4 banger results as good?
MTX with minimal mods showed. 4 Cyls didn't have the uber rich factory setting but still suffered from cels. Verry few others and myself were the rare ones. last CEL was when I was on the way to park my car for 6 mos. never got it checked cause when I returned the batt died. Either way the few who did get them had them for a lil bit and the sold them. I know of 1 person who still has one and il ask him how it's been. he had it for maybe lil over a year now.

The 6 is a wierd car I guess.

I saw on one of the other 6 boards that a company is trying for a programmer thing. That'll help out with out splicing wires.

If it's obdII can bus compliant then it might work but I have to see it to beleve it.
