My summary of GT4

Wooohooo another GT4 thread! But this one will have some useful info.

PROS:

• The new car physics are very accurate it takes a lot of getting used to. They are nothing like GT3.
• Rally mode is amazing. Its deffinetly the highlight of this game. I would buy some dirt tires as fast as I can and take a ride on the grand canyon map.
• Graphics are awesome
• Sense of speed is awesome
• You win some nice cars early on
• Money isnt as hard to get
• You can do free runs and stuff on every course instead of just 5

CONS

• B-spec mode is pretty lame. The AI isnt very intelligent. But It should be useful when u wanna do a long race against really slow cars just to get money.
• You cant load your ******* garage in LAN game mode. This just boggles my mind. Not having online in a simple racing game in the year 2005 was bad enough but not even being able to use our own cars in the closest thing we have to online is even worse.
• Its still next to impossible to get golds on licsense tests.
• Nike car is lame as hell, won it on some sunday cup. Dont know why its even in the game
• Too many gay family vans and useless cars like hybrids in this version.

My review in super nutshell form:
For Protege lovers: There is a PROTEGE and that's all its called but it has 160 hp and it looks liek an MSP.
On to the review:
-The new physics are the biggest deal now. On a normal tv, gameplay looks pretty similar to GT3 aside from different physics and backgrounds.
-Main map in GT mode is kind of crappy and inefficient
-You can use a billion differrent cars in arcade mode right off the bat
-The cars actually feel insane as if they were real life (For example, in the preview GTs, supras and Zs and rx7s felt tame and crappy, but now you can actually get yourself into trouble with a jerk of the steering wheel going 140 mph)
-Sounds aren't as good as (sigh) Need for speed underground 2 in terms of accuracy to the real car (THe one that proved this was the g35...it just doesnt have the wooshy wahh-y-ness it does in real life in the game...)
-its fricking hard now compared to before...I remember i would just get a car with liek 20 or 30 hp over the competition and muscle my way through. (I haven't played long yet, but) I got an ITR and joined a sunday cup race on challenge level 0 (between -10 easy and 10 hard) and got pwned by some vibes and crappy econoboxes.
-It seems as though the steering wheel that logitech made for this game will be a much better investment than it might have been for GT3 due to a much higher need for VERY sensitive gas and brake pedal, as well as higher steering sensitivity.

Aside from what the other guys have said, which i mostly agree with, thats my 2 cents. I know my grammar and typing are crappy right now, but its like 3 in the morning so i don't care

Okay i found out why the game was so hard...I was using standard tires instead of sports. After i changed them it like creamed the competition

You can get it pretty close, but the colors are limited (even more so than the real msp color lineup), and you can't get a accurate spoiler. The game offers like 15 different wings but all of them have the same ol' huge ricer aluminum stands holding them up. There are some wheels that look just like the MSP wheels, and they come in both silver and dark silver finishes... so you really can get it surprisingly close. I was amazed how much the car looked like the MSP in some of the replays.

The protege pretty much can't hang in this game though. I gave it some minor mods to make it closer to the real stock MSP, and it couldn't compete in anything. So I went ahead and modded it to have 290hp (about what mine has at the crank), and it was good for taking out the beginner FF and sunday car classes. The max you can make with it is 321hp, and it doesn't handle nearly as well as the real car does.

Oh well, it is fun to have something that you can drive around in a game that looks so close to your real car. If I ever get upset with my car for whatever reason, I can go into the game and smash it up to make me feel better.(evil)


That is my impression on the MSP part of the game, and as for the rest of it...

EVOVIII MR is super sick, and so is the racing RX-7 you win in the Pro turbo car challenge... especially with a stage 4 turbo:O. Rally is sick. Graphics are sick. The computer cars will get aggresive if you bash them a little. New replay mode angles are sick.....

The game is sick, what else can I say?

I have a 36' Sony Wega with progressive scan...and this graphical glitch is bothering the s*** out of me, I am having trouble ignoring it. I love everything else about the game though...but I will have to learn to look past this REDICULOUS flaw!! No game I have ever bought has had a glitch this severe. lame.

Haha, my roommate is a hardcore VW/german car lover and when i brought the game home he screamed and ran into my room and we raced on the nurburgring a 2 lap race....and it took like 18 minutes haha
Man this game is sick. Too bad i have like 300 hours of work to do in like 3 days hahah
