Sorry to see what happened. Have you or anyone torn down the engine to inspect to see what let go and what was likely cause? I have a suspicion that maybe your Protune was done in summer and was pretty close to max. Certainly 19 psi is outside the efficiency range once you pass about 5,800 rpm, but not so at lower rpm. Was this a load target tune or a boost target tune?

If it was tuned in warm weather, then comes dense cold air, maybe she leaned out on you on at least one cylinder. My guess. I'd like to see what the top of the pistons look like. It could have been purely mechanical, like dropping a valve, which could happen to anyone, though. Just curious, and again so sorry for your situation. At least you were honest about it all. Thanks for sharing.

You rolled for a while! Sorry to hear about this. You said you had internals and it still let go? This is what makes me nervous. Going beyond what I'm at now with the Hypertech tune and a few bolt-ons. Has anyone built a reliable 350whp car yet? I guess I just don't understand why we're seeing this happen so often.

I was thinking the same thing...that he rolled forever. He even passed that truck before exiting lol. Sucks man. Initially it sounds as if you did things right with internals and pro-tune. what kind of power where you making? Also, it's a great change of pace to hear someone blow up and be fine with it...and also have the sense to have a contingency plan while modding...albeit for a different car haha. It kills me when people are blowing up their cars and then are TOTALLY out of options when it happens. "weelll i improperly modded the hell out of my dd and now I'm effed because i spent all my money on mods." Bravo sir. Thanks for sharing! Look forward to pics.

Guys, those "internals" OP described are the upgraded fuel pump internals, not beefed up rods, crank, pistons, etc. As far as I can tell, his true "internals" were stock. Hopefully OP will fill us in on what the teardown discloses.
