My Show/AutoX P5 build

So to give you guys an update on the car I am going to go pay what I owe on the car today so hopefully I will get the car back this week. One of the requirements of me getting my car back is I have to have full coverage on it, and I only had liability before. So I will have to see if I can get that today. All and all this has been a good lesson for me in pride and finances so this was good for me.

So when I get the car back I have a MAM catless midpipe ready to go on it, going to work on some custome diamond plated floor mats and rear hatchback mat, and will be finishing the fiberglass door speaker pods.

So I just ordered this badboy for the P5 today:

Yep! lol Im gettin punked! reall good like! lol

On another note it looks like I won't even get my car till later next week. Still working things out with insurance and old tickets.(headshake So my car is going to look like poop then. Oh well, hopefully the judges will look more at my performance mods. Not that I am expecting to win or anything, I won't try to really turn some heads till next year.

Yeah, I looked at that one....as well...I ended up getting the Blaupunkt Kingston instead...for the 2-RCAs and 1-mono, USB input, and Front Auxillary and.....You'll love the different colors the face can turn...Plus with Crutchfield, the Kingston was only like 30 bucks more, because it included shipping/installation kit, etc....

Sweet deal, that sounds a bit better. But this is replacing my stock head unit so anything will be better at this point, maybe I will have to upgrade again in a couple years. So yah the 4,000+ different color background was one of the selling points for me. I am looking forword to see what this bad boy can do.

Dang! well, I'll give you a call this weekend and maybe we can get rolling on those door pods. Hopefully they'll be mostly done by the end of this weekend, then it's just some finishing work and then on to show prep. =) ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

Are you doing anything tonight or tomorrow??

sweet! how did the bases turn out? looks like they're sitting nice and flush. That should make it soooo much easier than the route i took when i did mine. we'll get em finished up this week, no problem. =)

I question both your methods and your mods...

The removal of the black tape around the windows looks terrible on a P5. Your rear quarter windows look stuck on. We've hated on the flames, but all the stuff you've painted (interior parts, taillights, et al) looks really bad. I understand you're on a budget, but pay for the CAR before you pay for the mods man...

Diamond plate floor mats are rice. Please, PLEASE don't...

Well thanks for your opinion but I like it and thats all that matters. About the floor mats I am going to paint them a gloss black, or paint them with truck bed liner and clear coat them. I am not a fan of the chrome look. As for the flames that is why they are still there cause I haven't put the money into my mods yet.

So to give anyone who is checking out this thread an update. I got my car back a little while ago. I have installed the MAM catless midpipe I had waiting for it, installed new head unit, and painted and put in floor mats. The diamond plate floor mats came out really good in my opinion. I covered them with truck bed liner(for durability) and clearcoated them. I am waiting to install gauge pod, gauges, door speaker pods, and component door speakers till I can get an amp for the door speakers. I think I have desided to not do rear subs in the hatch area for autocross purposes, I am waiting to see what the new speakers can do to make my final decission.

Nice...feel any gains from the midpipe? I know when I went catless, the car ran so much smoother, but I didn't really get any gains from it. Can't wait to see how the floor mats came out! =)

Yah, I felt a little gain. But I hate the way it sounds. Way to whiny and ricey above 3 grand. I am going to try and get a Racing beat axleback and see how that sounds. I really don't think the Mazdaspeed axleback was ment to have that much exhaust flow through it, more like an upgrade for a stock P5.

So for those few who have taken interest in this thread here is a small update. I just ordered some Espiler springs and a new mazdaspeed front strut bar. I also painted my billet grill black and am adding a mazdaspeed badge to it. Lately I have been spending all my time repairing my bumper myself. I had a pretty good size hole in the bumper and a few cracks in it. So I am priming it right now and will be painting it soon. After I have the bumper done and installed, install new parts on the way, I will be finishing up my sound system. So keep a lookout, I will be posting some pics in a week or two.
