My recent upgrades

So I took advantage of my Spring Break last week to do these modifications and it's turned my MSP into a whole new car. Prior additions were: iON Performance FMIC, iON Performance CAI, Blitz DTT DCII, MP5 radiator, AWR front mount. Mods just completed are:
iON Performance 3" Turbo Back Exhaust w/ optional resonator + ceramic coating (with Kartboy hangers)
iON Performance Springs
Blitz SBC i-color boost controller
AWR side inserts + rear mount
Forge replacement bypass valve

The car is now a completely new machine. It pulls so hard now that my next best mod I can do will be 4 brand new tires (thinking Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. The night when we were done I did a few runs against my brother in his '05 Evolution (stock except for Exedy Clutch/flywheel) and I was able to pull on him at 9psi. I've just been learning this EBC with each passing day and it's just so amazing. The drop on the car with the springs is perfect too. I'll try and snap a few pics with everything on the car soon.

I'd like to thank Jack from iON Performance for his unbelievable support and customer service. He answered all my questions promptly and thorougly, and even when I was installing the EBC he helped me out with a few issues I ran into...more than once!

I'd also like to thank Richard (apocman on the forum) for helping me to figure out a few things.

O s*** real nice man I would def like to see some pictures of your car especially with the Ion Race Springs on it nice mod list you have going their keep up the good work!!!

Im gonna have to call bs on the evo thing........at 9psi with no tuning? Watch the boost, get some form of em, there are to many I blew my motor threads popping up.

i agree, get some EMS and tune that car... you got all the right parts.

Hmmmmm...well, according to his mods list, he must be pushing at least 215whp. That should put him in the neighborhood of 240-250 crank hp. I'd think that might be around what's needed to start pulling on an EVO from a roll.

Evos dyno higher than 215 at the wheels. Id say around 230whp easy. Plus with a lightened flywheel much larger turbo and much more boost. *edited thinking of sti at the time*

Yeah, I know.
But compared to a launch from a stop, they are MUCH slower from a roll. And the MSP is a few hundred pounds lighter. (I'll look up the exact weight.)

few hundered pounds isnt a whole lot, also depends on how high of a roll off they are doing. Im just saying I dont think that he actually pulled on him. maybe right out of the gate in a roll off. But once the turbo spools in the evo.............BYE BYE msp.

I'm afraid the stock EVO is a 2.0L 4g63 (same displacement as an MSP).

I doubt he is putting down 215whp with just those mods.

So you have 220hp with 3086 curb weight in the evo and 215hp in the MSP with 2844 curb weight the MSP there you go you guys now have all the facts now duke it out (gun)

Like I said I doubt he is putting down that much with just fmic and 3 inch TB.

You're kidding, right? No sarcasm or offense intended, but a few hundred ounds is like night and day in a small displacement turbo car. Try a few runs before and after loading two or three 50lb. bags of sand in your trunk.

dead weight in the trunk is alot different than 200lbs spread out around the car. 200lbs equals about .2sec off your time, thats not a whole lot.

Yep, 9psi and no tuning and I pulled on him. Just for comparison purposes, TurboMagazine Project MSP made 210whp at 8.8psi with the iON Performance TBE, CAI, and FMIC (essentially my setup). See http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0411tur_mazda/. This was with 91 octane (versus the 93 octane I use). Take into account too the 400 pound difference and you should see why it happened. I'll definitely get the car tuned soon though.

I'll try to take pics this weekend. Maybe even a few sound clips.
