my p5 is making me angry

120k of crazy-racing and evil road driving on an FS-DE... Check the oil regularly, 2.5k oil changes, no problems with any blown anything, ever. =) Better'n'new. But I just recently dropped a new, built block in there, just 'cause I wanted different specs on the internals, and to blueprint the block.

what exactly is the purpose of blueprinting the block? ive always wondered that
and yea im checkin my oil every week, and addin as necessary

Shifting the tolerances. I'm going tighter on a few tolerances, and making them more constant, across the board. Also, sand casting leaves a lot of flash and poor surfaces, where oil can get stuck, and not run back down to the sump. Once you remove that, you remove a lot of weak points, too. Balancing the crank was also a priority, too.

EDIT: i just figured out what you were talkin about lol. is that an expensive task? it sounds like it would be.

How the hell did you run it over?
Didnt the keys have to be in the ignition in order to run them over?

the fs-ze swap seems to be worth it, except for the fact of the harness and ecu.
idk we'll see, if i dont get that im just gonna get one from ken

and my cars an auto (for now), so no worry on the clutch heh. (my tranny is slippin 2nd tho)

and you didn't beat on the car at all??? ya, i looked into the swap too, and besides all the costs and ecu/harness issues...i beleive emmissions would be a major hurdle also! your best bet is a junk yeard engine swap (cheap fix) good luck man!!

oh i admit, for awhile i drove this thing like i stole it. but its basically a go kart and its fun to drive. but i was ignorant and thought nothin would happen. eh oh well, but this car has seen many long road trips also. from here to florida, maryland, delaware, and indiana. and its already pushin over 80 grand on the odometer.

but yea, i wanna drop a replacement fs-de in, and probably sell it early next year. get me a honda civic. also i really want a 5 speed.

so idk, we'll see how things go

Is the Fs-De a variant unique to the P5, or is it simply the distributorless version? Do any other Mazda's use EXACTLY the same engine?

My engine has begun to make that same noise, even though I've only had the car for a few months, and I need an engine ASAP!

2002 Mazda 626 has the same engine, on the whole... 2001 626is the exact same, head down. 1999-2000 626 is the same block/crank, etc... The 1.8/2.0 FP/FS engine from previous years had a weaker crank design.

well i spent $3000 on an new motor with ~30,000 miles on it. and the car runs fine now :D next thing to get replaced is the tranny (hopefully with a 5 speed)

nice. it was $3000 including removal of stock engine, replacing all the gaskets on the replacement engine, checking the whole thing out and droping it in. so i mean when you think about it, thats a lot for $3000. plus my dad payed for it lol
