My New STF project...

Well, had the chance to test the upgrade , just incredible ! The car is planted, no matter how much I tried the car doesn't push or gets loose, I also don't feel any tire coming of the ground, I don't have to lift to help the car rotate; can't imagine the improvement when I get the new springs...

I also got around today to get my "Autocross only" muffler, a cheap copy of what Mr. Hollis had but I am pretty sure is doing the job. I said only autocross because is Loud! inside the cabin, the design is using the whole car as a mufler LOL ! I lost 18 lbs. as well .

Now need to sit and wait for the new springs and control arms bushings, then learn how to drive this little beast.

Get a set of earplugs to put in your helmet bag, that has to be nuts loud in the car.

I know , you are right, the thing is that you also want to hear your tires, luckily Rivals are loud. I will be working on keeping them as quiet as possible though .

Glad you liked the shocks. Single biggest improvement I made in my car for autocross. Totally transformed it.

Andres what was your suspension setup before the AST upgrade ? Nice muffler setup btw ! After repacking Andy's muffler I am loving it. I really have no problems street driving it windows up or down its a joy. Before the repack it was STUPID loud lol

Glad you got it worked out, Joe. And the repack will actually make more power since it performs more like a straight pipe that way (even though quieter...win-win).

That's why it is worth the money to pay for the real deal Burns (or Coast Fab, who makes 'em for Burns). The non-rebuildables start off noisier, and just get worse. So you lose performance and sound quality. In short, you get what you pay for.

I was told that this specific design might not be legall next year, so did not want to spend the money even though I was really Close to get the Bunrs one...

Thanks Andy for all your help.

KSport coilovers with 6k/F and 5K/R Spring rates. I followed one of Andy's notes by moving the factory KSport front spring to the rear and ordering one with higher rate for the front, worked good enough to win the Pro Solo in Blytheville; imagine now after I get done with AST's, higher spring rates and control arm bushings coming next week ..

I have to look it up but somebody mentioned that it was a proposal about the exhaust end should not be located underneath the car; maybe Andy knows more about this proposal.

Got it. Thanks :) worst comes to worst I will just run a pipe to the back. So I am just adding to my current system. But I hope they don't pass it

Found this on the June 2013 Fastrack published in July 2013 under proposals :

" After reviewing the additional member input, the SAC and SEB are recommending the following change to the most recent version of the Street Category preparation rules:
Change the proposed 13.10.C first paragraph to read as follows:
C. Any part of the exhaust system beyond (downstream from) the header/manifold or catalytic converter, if so equipped, may be substituted or removed provided the system exits the car in the original location and meets the requirements of Sections 3.5, 3.3.3.B.15, and Appendix I where applicable. Vehicles equipped with exhausts that exit in multiple locations may use any or all of the original locations. Stainless steel heat exchangers are permitted only if the physical dimensions and configuration remain unchanged. "

It doesn't. It did originally, but they changed that.

BTW, if you haven't seen this yet, check it out: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/sounding-off/

Good to have that clear.

Nice article.

Question: once running, if your noise is past legal levels you can modify/change your muffler, but if you are not ready when your turn comes , would you loose your run? Will they give you a specific amount of time?

Each driver is treated separately, so that helps And if you aren't ready, you can call a mechanical, which gets you an additional 10 minutes. That should be plenty of time. if not, one of you loses a run.

I have driven the DTC-60s on the street and they seem to work just fine. They can be noisy when cold though.

I ran these too in the Focus and they were noisy, too noisy, kept getting the "your brakes pads need to be changed, they are finished" lol
