Give the engine a chance to break in before you race the hell out of it. Jesus...do you want to be where I am today? 3 blown motors (none my fault, really) and a car that is sitting at the dealership because they won't honor my warranty? Give it a chance to break in!

Please for the love of god learn about rotaries and rotary mainenance (if you don't already) before you try to drive the hell out of it. The reason why I say this is because I have been hearing stories of people beating the absolute s*** out of their RX8s before they even reach 1000 miles, then bitching at Mazda when their CELs come on or their engines blow.

Sprockett - Thanks for the advice... yeah, this is my first rotary but believe me I don't drive the hell out of it. I'm not a racer boy, I don't race around town and I don't go to the track! I baby this car, just because I've been reading also how people been throwing cel's and blowing their engines within the first 2k miles. It's been good to me so far, got over 3500 and no problems yet. *knocks on wood* I've been reading as much as I can on Rotaries even before I bought it, it doesn't make me a "know it all" but I've been following up on the maintenance and making sure I treat her the right way. But on the other hand, instead of telling me to be carefull and whatnot... give me some tips! I'm sure since you now know I'm a newby with them I can probably use them from you all that know the rotary engine well.

JF1GD2 - well, to me it's got guts over 4k, well 5k is more like it but I've never had somewhat of a fast car. I know alot of people on this forum live for this s***, as I kinda do but I bought this car because ever since I saw it was coming out I wanted one. I've never had a car with over 110whp, so that's why I say IMO it's quick enough for me. Like I said I don't race people and don't look to race or anything of the sort. I bought it because I've been wanting one and I love everything about it. It doesn't bother me that other people say it's slow and whatnot, but to me it's just fine... it has a smooth power band, it packs a bit of a punch and handles nicely, for me and that's all that matters!

misbehave - no it doesn't, but you can get the add on... but that's not a big deal to me because I had one in my MP3 and hardly ever used it. BTW, thanks... I really like it!

Absolutely stunning! I love the car in that yellow...it just jumps out at you. The baby seat is definitely a nice touch! Good to see you are enjoying your new car and that it can be both sporty and functional at the same time!

I own one and drive the WRX every day and I've driven the RX-8, twice. Both times I redlined each gear in the RX-8 to get the maximum power out of it...sadly to say it just wasn't there.

did you get the sound package upgrade???

I have the Bose 9 speaker upgrade but i must say im not happy with it. All treble and very weak bass without turning it up to like 20+

JF1GD2 - I can definitely say it's not extremely slow! Did you drive the automatic or something! I would have to believe FC3s, never raced one or anything but I would have to say it would be a real close race if anything... and binary has a point! But I'm sure there's a big difference in driving your suped WRX to the N/A RX-8, I don't know but it doesn't matter to me!

Smack - yeah I got the GT package with the upgraded Bose system. It could be better but, it works good enough for me. I don't listen to music much, but when I do it's more of a background sound, so I can still hear the sound of the rotary... I love it!! So, I'm hardly ever jammin! But, I will say it's a matter of what kind of music I listen to with the bass. Because some I've listened to and it sounds really good, but other music I've come across it doesn't sound as good as I would expect. But, in all I'm happy enough with it!
