My New MS6 Sport

Hello everyone. I picked up an 06 Black Cherry Mica MS6 a couple of weeks ago, and found this forum, so I figured I'd make my irst official post. I actually did what most car enthusiasts would call "downgrading my car". I took advantage of a super lease deal on this car, being that the demand is virtually non existent, and they made me an offer I could not refuse. I was looking to unload my 04 STI, since maintanence was coming up, insurance was insanely high, and I wanted to put some good cash in my hand. After all was said and done, they gave me $23000 for a trade in, and cut me a check for $20000. The 3 grand difference covered the due at signing, tax and tags, ect, and I'm going to be paying off the lease in full while having about 14 grand to put towards my 2006 S2000, which ultimately caused a premature departure of my beloved STI.

Although this MS6 cannot touch the STI in any performance aspect, and feels very heavy to me, it's nice to have a daily driver that looks nicer, is more comfortable, and doesn't draw the negative attention that the STI delivered. There was way too much revving, dirty looks, and racing challenges form youngsters in that car, so it's nice to be under the radar with this beautiful machine. I'm still getting used to the sluggish feel of this car, but realize that when you go from an STI to this car, naturally you are compromising performance, yet gaining other things. It's a downgrade by performance standards, but getting $23000 (2k over KBB) on a 2+ year old car with 28k miles on it, and some wear and tear on exterior after only paying $29000 for it new, no maintanence performed besides oil changes, and the great lease offer, I simply could not refuse. The demand for the STI used is so high, that they were drooling over this trade, and would not let me leave without making the offer irrestible. I think they had a buyer all lined up, because of the way they were acting.

I fully admit that I miss my STI, because that was was just so raw and so deadly, yet so extremely reliable and durable. I gotta give Subaru props. That car is pretty much the most reliable 300hp car you can buy. I had stage 1 in it, which really bumped up the power nicely over stock. This MS6 is a much tamer car that feels like a Cadillac to me compared to the STI, yet it's slowly growing on me, and I look forward to the next two years. It's unlikely that I'll take the buyout, since that in a way negates the great deal I got, but I'm getting tons of compliments from the non enthusiast crowd who think I got a more expensive vehicle. I could have purchased this MS6 Sport that has auto dim mirror compass, shock alarm upgrade, wheel locks, and a cargo net for under $25000, which in itself I thought was a fabulous deal, but I took the lease so I could reduce my debt. I'm sure before long they will be even cheaper, but I picked the right time to unload my STI while the market was hot, and get my hands on a beautiful MS6 while the market is shot. I'll probably be back to Subaru in 2008, but for now having this as my daily/winter car while enjoying my 06 S2K for pleasure makes for a great combination of cars. This color is very unique, and although I'm a sport compact guy, and this car doesn't fit my personality, it makes for an awfully nice replacement, while not having to worry about expensive maintanence over the next two years. Thanks for reading, and i look forward to learning more about this unique, wonderful, luxurious, powerful machine. :)
