I'm not really a religous person, but, God bless you. I wish there were more people out there like you...

People like you give this country a great name. "Peeps" like you are the reason why I don't have to make my own fast food or change my own oil on the car!!!!

ya know? I just got through grad school... and let me tell you, s*** catches up with you!

if you think it'll all be easier when you get out of school, you're ******* kidding yourself

don't stretch s*** out 7 years, you know you won't be driving that thing 7 years, but you'll be so far upside down you won't be able to sell it without rolling thousands of dollars into a new loan

it will stop at 137/138. all mazdaspeeds do. theres a limiter there.

Theres only a limiter there until you get really pissed off at the stock ecu, tear it out of the floor board and throw in a microtech...

then you can have (five-0) chase you at 140+ mph! Yay!!! (sssh)

the ecu controls it? that totally explains why the mp3 goes faster. different ecu. and ive been wandering this whole time.

Is there some way to subscribe to a member's posts, rather than a certain thread? I know this thread will eventually die, but I want to make sure I see the thread this guy starts to tell us how Mazda won't fix his blown motor, or his LSD, or how he was out of warranty and it's simply not their problem....

Boricua, did it ever occur to you that maybe the previous owner saw that he was putting on mileage a little too quickly and decided to just swap the gauges to keep all those miles off his odometer??
In that mileage consistency check you showed us, it show's that the guy drove the car 9,000 miles in the first FOUR MONTHS!! 6,000 over the next 3 months. 15,000 miles in 7 months is a lot. He finishes off the year with 20,000 miles!! Then all of a sudden the mileage drops dramatically to 3,000 over 4 months. Averaged out to daily mileage, that's showing only 25 miles now vs. about 54 miles a day the first year.
With the car being owned for roughly 912 days(since first check on 3/3/03) that would put todays mileage close to 49,xxx miles. That would be enough to make me want to swap my odometer if my mileage was that high and I was looking for a high trade in price.

(ripped) Oh, and by the way...Your shift knob is missing the leather piece that its supposed to have, and they also jacked you for your stock Kenwood deck too :) Good luck...Maybe they left you the subwoofer.

guys... i jus said i'm not buying it...

they have to really give me a great reason for me to purchase the vehicle... now can anybody get a great pic of the cluster and info on the car... thx...

i gotta wait till saturday anyway to see wat ima do as for payments anyway... thats only if they convince me...

do your parents know about this purchase??? I think you need to call them and say "mom, dad, why is this dealer wanting to sell me car with a switched out odometer?"

Maybe they can physically knock some sense into you, because we are obviously not getting through to you... please reference post #255 the part about getting your head out of you ##!@!$^#^%#$!@#

You are too funny... You say you aren't going to buy the car unless they give you a reason to, but you are still going down there on your own to work out a payment plan, and you are the one doing the research on the issues with the car. Sounds like you want it bad enough to not just take our word and PASS IT UP!!! Face it...The dealership has hooked you, and it's only a matter of time until they reel you in. You expect them to do research about the car?? They don't care. A good salesman would know his cars to brag about what they feature. This place doesn't even know they got ripped off unless they did this s*** themselves. s***, with the few things wrong with that car, I highly doubt they gave any more then $10,000 to the guy who traded it in. And it looks like they are going to make a killing off of you.

Just tell them to **** off and forget about this particular car all together. Wait and a new one will pop up soon, or broaden your options to include traveling, or to include people who are willing to take care of the shipping arrangements themselves(hint, hint: me;))

see... like i said before... ima not buying the car... the car runs great, looks great, sounds great... but if i get one of those deals that can't be passed up, then the cluster can kiss my ass... but till then, ima address the issue... and ima go and see if there is another MSP nearby...

holy...******... s***. I only read the first few pages (and now the last one) so I may have missed something but... from what I gather, this dude owes this forum big time! they say there's a sucker for every deal. not only was he getting hosed on the price but the financing was just obscene.

no disrespect Boriqua. I'm guessin the 86 refers to the year you were born. At 20 I made more than my fair share of bonehead decisons. Looking back, I easily would have fallen in love with this car and overpaid for it like you were about to. Take everyone's advice and read read read. knowledge is power my man. you've found the right car. you just need to find the right deal. These cars never caught the eye of the consumer the way some of its competition did. (even though it's as badass as any of them) the combination of the minimal production along with the car being "underpowered" kept it off the radar. Feel fortuneate that it landed on yours. Knowing what these cars sell for out there, if there's a better overall deal on the used car lot than one of these... I'm not aware of it. If you're looking for an 03 orange with around 30k miles on it, after a bit of searching, you just might find one in the 11-14k range. Since these cars can be hard to sell, most of the owners seem to only be looking to break even. whatever that # happens to be... it's usually a steal to anyone who knows anything about this car.

my advice to you: since you said you don't want to deal with the hassle of buying a car out of state, that one you almost bought might be your future ride. Find the most knowledgeable person you know when it comes to buying cars. If you dont' know anyone, maybe someone on this forum who lives closeby can help you out. Go to the dealership armed to the hilt. If you dont' want to sell you car private part (if it's paid off you'd be wise to do so) just take what gelves tells them is fair. (gelves is a resource all dealers use to determine the TRUE value of a used car.) through away that KBB s***. unless they're going to buy your car their pricing is meaningless. Gelves literally tells the dealer what people have actually paid for your car within the last month. can't get much better than that. Anyway, you should always negotiate the price of the vehicle you want to buy first. Once you negotiate a fair price (for that car... somewhere in the 12-13.5k range seems fair) then get your trade in money and work out the financing. don't let them gouge you on the interest. this is how alot of these two-bit crooks make their money. if you need a co-signer get a co-signer dude. you might not think interest adds up but trust me, it's a big freakin deal. You need to find a way to secure a 60 month loan for under 6% this might be challenging but will be well worth it. I read 12.9... dude, that's just disgusting. u might as well just throw your money down the shitter. as bad as your credit might be, I guarantee you those clowns are STILL making at least 2-3 points off you with that loan.

anywayz.... I've said enough. good luck

speed junkie

yes, my name is icespeed, and i am a mazdaspeed junkie.

ok, your turn....
generally speaking the mazdaspeed is an awesome car, but

"like my sergeant used to say before our trips into the jungle... MEN!!!! Fifty of you are leaving on a mission, twenty five of you ain't, coming, back"

This car is one of those 25 not.... coming..... back.....

let it go

well i jus got done searching... the next orange MSP is in Bloomfield NJ... 2 hours away... almost hitting New York... damit, iight ima give these guys a call damorrow... they're closed right now obviously... but its the same s***, but 28k miles and for 15k... i'll drive for 2 hours to save 3k on a car... ima see if they have it in stock first... here's the link... yall like it??? or you guys gonna blow me off on this one???

http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c...003&isp=y&pager.offset=25&lang=en&cardist=103

confirm the mileage, they should be able to email you a picture of it. the radio looks correct, also get a pic of under the hood. check carfax for accidents, etc.

and, most importantly.... When you save the 3,000.00, WE ALL EXPECT OUR FAIR SHARE, SO.... 3000.00/45MEMBERS = $66.67

I, like FHM, expect my check no later than 9-23-05
