(scratch)........ You are amazing if you can tell how mechanically sound a car is by "feeling" it. Let us know when you blow the motor.

For the sake of my son's education I won't be buying a house in downingtown school district. I wonder why it has one on the highest property taxes in Southeastern PA.

Good lord man... Too many things I want to resond to, but I don't want to really care about this...In no particular order:
-How can you say the car's history is perfectly legit if it's got some type of modification to the odometer, and a WARRANTY VOIDING intake? Chances are, it had more mods that were removed before it was traded in.
-You are willing to pay thousand's more for a car to get an absolutely HORRIBLE warranty on a car that is probably not even under warranty anymore. Trust me, when you bring it back for a warrenty issue, Mazda will investigate the odometer swap and all of a sudden they'll tell you the REAL mileage.
-**Bump for my own sale** I will drive my car to you and fly home, and you'd get a car that is probably as clean in stock form, and way better looking with the mods I have. I'd even sell it cheaper than what you are going to pay. I probably have $6K in mods alone.
-Don't try to convince yourself that it's the only Mazdaspeed, and it's one of a kind. (attn) I have one EXACTLY like it, but cleaner, faster, and cheaper.
-The warranty is overrated. I've got over 63,000 hard-driven, redline pushing, 11psi boosting miles and the only engine problem I had was a faulty thermostat that I changed myself at 32,000 miles.
-More than likely you will still buy this car, even though I think everyone here is telling you (from experiences we've had) that this car is not worth anything close to 18K, and honestly, it's a bit suspect even for $15K...

hey folks... thats why the VIN number is there... also, the computer saves that number in its internal memory... the car has bout 40k miles... this sounds very accurate...

My lord, I just read this whole thread and my head hurts now...

Not that I think you will listen since it has already been said 15 times and you STILL don't get it, but...

THE GAUGE CLUSTER SAVES THE MILEAGE!!! THE COMPUTER DOES NOT!!!

The mileage on that odometer is NOT accurate... plain and simple. It could be 80k miles on that car, or it could be 5k... but not knowing the ACTUAL mileage of a car that you are paying WAY too much for is absolutely retarded.

Open your eyes man. That is not the only orange mazdaspeed protege in existence (there was 750 ORANGE ones made, and 4,750 total with all 6 colors). You are getting ***** if you pay 18k for that thing. Chances are very good that the particular car that you are so in love with was modified more than you can see right now. It IS possible to put a car back to stock and make it look like it was never modded... but the fact that it has a intake and a lx cluster AFTER trade in make it very likely that the previous owner was in to modding it.

People here know a lot more than you do about the Mazdaspeed and the protege in general and you should really listen to them instead of saying stuff like "no guys trust me, this car is tight". WE KNOW... WE DRIVE THEM. I personally would not touch that car even for 15k. Hell, even at 12k I would have my reserves.

Ok, end rant, good luck finding another MSP since you really want one... but PLEASE do not buy that particular car.

i just purchased a 100% bone stock 03 msp in april with 33k miles for $12,500. only flaw was a dent in the rear passenger 1/4 panel.

Yo, I already know that...I said i'm not buying the car unless they give me an extended warranty from mazda...ima tell them bout the intake that it came at the time of purchase...and the odometer... i am going to investigate that today... like after school i will know 100% on how the odometer works and if i'm gettin ripped... cuz last time i checked, on OBD II vehicles, its almost impossible to modify a cluster while trying to put less miles on a digital odometer... the computer corrupts and it won't even display anything... but ima make sure of that today... don't worry folks...

also, i wouldn't buy any modified cars... intake is something everybody does... as long as it has a MAFS, then its all legal...

.
Ima find that out bout the cluster today... and also, i would understand more if the cluster was changed and it only had like 10k miles on it... then carfax would say it would have 25k+ miles on it jus last year... that sounds like a ripoff right there... but it sounds very legit... ima find out bout the cluster...

Jus if yall didn't know... I'm a Universal Techincal Institute Student. Only Professional Master Certified Technicians work there... I'm in my Advanced Electronics Class... and we were jus talking bout guage clusters... so like i said, ima ask my Instructor to tell me 100% on wat u guys are telling me to see if its possible...
