Well, I never thought I'd be saying this, but I wrecked my MSP this morning on my way to work...I rear ended some asshole with poorly lit brake lights. With it the time of day it was, I could barely even see the damn things untilI realized they were on...Too Late!! Luckily I swerved enough to not hit him directly. That and the fact that my car was lowered helped me go under the corner of his bumper minimizing the damage. It's in the shop, waiting for my insurance to give them the go ahead to fix. The lady at the shop says it isn't as bad as it looks but damn...I had to drive it off the freeway, and it wasn't pulling sideways, and it seemed to sound okay, so hopefully it was more cosmetic then structural. I'll try to get down there and get some pics...

Overall, I'm more pissed at myself for taking my eyes off the road...I've still got the Civic to drive, so I'm not gonna be hurting for a nice car to drive...I just hope everything goes over well with my insurance company...

i hear ya

There are way too many people on the road with dim brake lights or blown lights all together. They all need to be given a ticket.

Black MSP...how many body parts were painted, and what was the cost to paint it??? My dad was saying that they may have to repaint the whole car, but that may push the "totaled" limit. A complete new paint job alone must push $4,000.

Well, they should fix my cracked window...There's no way they could say it didnt happen due to the accident. Its cracked on the same side as the damage, so at least that'll save me some money...I just talked to the claims lady, and she said it may be 3-5 Business days before they even look at the car. And the body shop won't touch it till then. That sucks.

2K3 Mazdaspeed, sorry to hear about your accident. Were you following too closely though? I usually drive with a huge gap between me and the car upfront. I feel that rear ending someone is the worse possible thing you can do, because you couldn't be more wrong. How fast did you hit the person at? Did the air bag deploy?

Good thing you didn't rear end a SUV or tractor trailor. My previous car that was lost in a 'totalled' lost accident was pretty much due to the fact that my car was lowered when someone rear ended me at a stop light and i was shoved underneath the SUV upfront. As scary as that may sound, it didn't activate the air bag which i didn't need.

Good everything goes well with you and your car! ;)

I really don't have any upgrades yet..The fact that it was lowered probably saved me...I went under his bumper just enough to not put too much force on him or his truck.

I noticed his taillights weren't very bright, so I was trying to keep a distance, but I took my eyes off him...When i looked back, it took me a second to realize that his brakes were on and that's all it took. I swerved as quickly as I could, I just didn't react fast enough. It pushed my bumper down(and cracked it), and it pushed my passenger side head light into the hood, crunched the fender and hood and broke the radiator support bracket. Like I said, supposedley it isn't as bad as it looks. I'll try to get down there and get some pics for you guys...

Sorry to hear about your wreck and glad that you are OK. Hope that everything goes fine with the MSP.

Just hope the other driver doesn't decide to sue... My dad rearended a person and just before the 2 year date came up she tried to sue us for back and neck (blah blah blah) injuries that she tried to place on him. Ended up that we won, but just be careful out there-

Sorry to here about this. I work for an insurance company so I here stuff like this all day. It just suck that is happened to such a nice car. I hope the paint is not as hard to match as it looks. Good luck with everything.

Yo. If they total the car hit me up. We'll help you out in parting the car out. We're here in San jose. We'd be happy to buy back the car or at least the motor and drivetrain.

SEan and I are both needing this. We will gladly give you the hookup for life on the dopest parts available for the protege or any other car from Japan.

Peace and good luck,

Rishie

It will all work out.
