My Mazdaness

Is it a disease? Nah...is it a psychological problem? Maybe. It's my room. My bedroom...a small space in the house overflowing with Mazdaness. I'll try to explain everything in the pics to the best of my abilities...seeing my room first hand is the only way to get a grasp of just how much Mazda stuff I've filled my room with. These pics don't cover everything either. Basically I've made my room a Mazda museum but a bedroom is stuck in the middle, so it's not very organized.

Pic 1 - the front of my bedroom door:

Print ads...most from the late '80s mid 90s...a handful of emblems and some license plates...that "mazda" plate, the sticker of a convertable is actually a RX-7 convertable that just happened to be featured in this "sticker book" that my mom got me when I was younger.

Pic 2 - back of door + closet doors:

More print ads! MS6 preliminary poster(a foldout poster/info thingy they gave out at the autoshow earlier this year), and a 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege showroom poster(I've got 2 of them, and a 2003.5 poster I just brought home from work tonight that I haven't put up(or made room for) yet. The thing next to the clock is one of my "Mazda works of art" I made in school - it's a dyed fabric that is kindof a pillow. I traced/drew a picture from Jack Yamaguchi's 3rd gen RX-7 book, then did the stitching and everything. Looks like an RX-7!

Pic 3 - My info corner!

Behind those bags(those are bags they handed out at autoshows, Rev It Up, and a RX-8 bag that dealerships got back in the day) I have brochures, a collection of Car and Drivers and Road and Tracks, and other stuff. On the right side of the picture is my bed's desk thingy, which is where I have a collection of Mazda VHS tapes(I actually got one on CD, "Why Every Mazda Just Feels Right" from 1990, if anyone can host like 100 MB I'll upload it), accessory brochures, etc etc. That thing on there that sticks out is this crazy(and crappy) 3D view I made of my car for photo class last year. '88 323 brochure I bought off E-bay, and a '90 626 brochure I happened to find in a car at the junkyard. On the left bottom of the pic is a poster tube with about 20 showroom posters in it, and the black thing is a 323 GT-X upper wing that I found at a junkyard that I bought for our 323, but my dad doesn't want to put it on the car...I'll have to talk him into it when we get the car back. And another "Mazda work of art", left side of pic above the bags is a ceramic rendition of my Protege. It came out pretty well too. And at the top of the white shelf thingy sits my X-box - the best thing that ever happened to me at highschool, I won it at the Senior Bash. Got Forza, and that's it.

Pic 4 - Hey look, more print ads!
room43td.jpg

Yeah, more print ads. The top banner thing is actually a Zoom Zoom booklet thingy that our dealership had for a while earlier this year...I took 3 of them and took them apart/cut and made the banner. MSP add in the center of the pic, and 2 ads of the 1st gen Protege LX on the right side of the pic.

Pic 5 - Ahh! More stuff!!
room53pi.jpg

Little stuff on the wall, my PS2, Lava lamp, and my collection of Mazda model cars. They include - 1/18 RX-8, 1/18 1st gen Miata, 1/24 RX-7 Turbo II(actually an Initial D model that I wet-sanded the "stickers" off of), 1/24 3rd gen RX-7, 1/24 1st gen Miata, 1/32 Mazda T-2000(the 3 wheel truck), 1/43 3rd gen RX-7 pull back, 1/64 JGTC 3rd gen RX-7, 1/87 Micro Machines 1st gen RX-7, and a MicroSizers 3rd gen RX-7 minature remote control car. Also a collection of Protege emblems and other emblems. Top right of the image is a B-series grill hanging over my window. Note the MP3, early Mazda 6, 1st concept RX-8, and 2nd concept RX-8 flyers at the top.
Also my PS2 games, mainly GT1, GT2, GT3, GT Concept Tokyo-Seoul, GT Concept Tokyo, 3 GTAs, etc etc I only buy car games.

Pic 6 - The other side of my room:
room63ue.jpg

1989 RX-7 Convertable showroom poster, 10th Anniversary Miata poster, my TV, radio reciever, dish reciever, a switcher(to switch from Dish to PS2 to X-box, all running S-video yo!), and an old VCR placed on it's side to save space(and it works). The rest of my 1/18 scale collection. The hat is a "Make Mine Mazda" promotion they had last year for service customers. Under the hat is a 13B rotor housing with a rotor sitting in it(and a big "wing" Mazda emblem in the center just for kicks), another rotor housing is supporting the right side of the 1/18 scale collection at the bottom of the pic. The rotor housing/rotor on the right side of the pic is yet another "Mazda work of art" I made, prolly my best one. It's to size and made of mahogony-ish wood. I had hopes of getting the rotor to turn in it but I'm no Felix Wankel and the curvature powns my wood working skills. There's a clock in the center(CD face). It's a nice piece and I'll upload another better pic of it decked out with emblems and stuff. Ontop of the other CD-clock(next to the TV) is a 1/32 scale 787B that my dad got at the MazdaSpeed "Street Heat" event in 2002(driving the MazdaSpeed Protege before it was availible to the public).

Pic 7 - Some more posters:
room74oi.jpg

1991 Mazda 787B LeMans Victory poster(very rare). I found it recently in my dad's closet and he donated it to my collection. MS Miata poster, and MP5 poster. Nothing much becides that.

So that's most of my room. There's still what's under my bed, which includes our old '96 Compaq Presario, a 3rd gen Protege grill(clips are broken on the back), a few other "Mazda works of art"(a huge rotor housing ceramic pot, Mazda emblem shaped ceramic pot, some photography projects, etc), some radios(more on the floor now, lol), an Opel rug my dad made back in the '70s to celebrate his Opel GT that he autocrossed back then, and some other misc parts.

I'm nuts huh.

Comments? Questions? Concerns? (hah)

yeah i know your a car nut when you post up multiple picks of the MPV on your door. my door looks exactly like that only covered in stickers from bands that ive seen at concerts.

The 1st gen MPV is awsome! RWD, V6! And hey there's RX-7 ads and Miata ads on there too. I just happen to think that the MPV ads are great from a marketing standpoint. Or, yeah...

so like..............why such a die hard mazda fan? i think if i were that big of a fan id be in a mazdaspeed miata right now ready for the mazdaspeed6.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm 19(B-day was yesterday) and I'm not made of money. I'm pleased with my '94 Protege. If I had the money I'd be in a 3rd gen Miata right now, but I just don't have the money. If you would like to donate money to put me behind the wheel of a MazdaSpeed Miata, MazdaSpeed 6, or any Mazda at all, let me know.

My Mazdaness started because of my dad. He's a Mazda Master Tech, since 1982. I would watch him at work, he brought work home too, so I was constantly around the cars. Our first Mazda was(is) our '88 323 that we bought from an uncle in 1990(he bought a Protege LX!), and since then we've owned over a dozen Mazdas. My extended family has owned(I figured this out once) nearly 40 Mazdas all together at various points in time.
We currently own 10 Mazdas for our family of 4, 8 of them are at my house, the 323 is at a body shop guy's house, he's fixing the damage from when I was hit by a Dakota a year ago, and my brother has 1 '95 Millenia that he's parting out at a local junkyard.

All of our cars are Mazdas, and have been since 1996. We love the cars...all bought used and all "old" as it were...but they're still reliable, drive great, and practical.

I was brought up with Mazdas, so that's why I'm a Mazda nut. ;)

Well happy belated birthday. I'd say your pretty obsessed with Mazda, but that's okay. Mazda r0xxerz my life too. I own 2 Mazda's and can't see myself driving any other brand car. BTW, I want your rotary clock :(

Yeah I love my rotary clock...I remember making it in "manufacturing tech" class, sophmore year I think it was. Everyone else was building the box-style clocks(such as the other clock next to my TV, which I made in 8th grade) but since I already did that I decided to do my own thing. It took a while to make...I actually made 2 rotors, the first one sucks horribly because I couldn't cut the wood with the right curvature. The 2nd one I did right.

bad ass... i just now got through taking every last thing on my walls down. mainly posters and pictures from different trips around the world, but it still feel empty :\ anyways.. nice collection!

:D I'll just say what I always say, that "zoom-zoom" is truly a lifestyle. I can't see myself leaving the brand any time in the near future, it embodies everything that I want in a car.
