My Mazda 929 Is Stalling Out

Alright, quick synopsis is that the latest battery on the 929 was pretty much dead so I went over and got another battery.

Ever since I replaced it, the car stalls out sometimes when it's in idle. Is it something with the new battery? This isn't the first time this has happened with this car. About a year ago it did it once or twice and then it just stopped happening. However, over the past week it I am end up sitting in idle and then the car stalls out.

Imagine you're about the sneeze. You go...

Ahhh...

Ahhhhh...

Ahhhhhhhh....

AH CHOO!

Except theres no Choo...

The engine just shuts off and then I have to sit there and just start the damn thing up again.

The Car itself:
89 Mazda 929
122,500 k miles
Next oil change is another 2000 miles (got the oil changed 3 weeks ago).

go to a dealer and reset the idling speed of the motor, could have to do with that. I doubt it has anything to do with the battery but just in case, get it checked.

Hey I have almost the exact same car and the same problem... I drive a '90 929... I got a new battery, and it does that same dieing out thing... It kinda seems like its choking and you can't slow down or it will die.... I thought it was the battery at first too, got a new one but that wasn't the problem.

I still can't get it to be fixed... The check engine light flashes and we run a scan on it where I get it fixed and it comes up with different codes everytime... One of the most likely problems we found had to do with the mass air flow sensor... Haven't got that fixed yet, do you think that's the problem?

Yes. It sounds exactly like the same thing.

As soon as you start braking and its about to idle...it either idles and sounds like its suffering from emphezema or it just dies. It's funny, it really only started doing it recently and I don't know why.

So have you taken it in?.. Do you know what the problem is?

You're not going to believe this.

Bad gas.

Apparently, Clark and Citgo have been selling some bad gas to people especially their premium. That was what was causing it to stall out. Bad gas.

My car idles extremely low so that doesn't really solve the problem for me.... Altho my car does always seem to die when the tank is below half full...

So bleed the system, My second car was a 93 929, I loved that thing, I abused the s*** out of it, and it stood together like a frieght train. I jumped it a ton of times, and had lots of fun, with , but when i traded it in they didnt like it to much , they sold it for 6000, then the person 200 miles on it, and the radiator cracked, and all the struts went by bye, and they found metal shavings in the oil pan, so it sucks for them. Good for me.
