My Latest Interior Mod

a hint for you guys, if you use a screen spline tool, its a roller thing with wheels on both ends, it makes it easier to push the material into the edges, the "cracks" as they were referred to.

im still fine tuning it (theres a few flaws) veyr minor though so someday i may redo that door, but ...

#1. peel off fabric
#2. use fabric as template to cut vinyl
#3. spray back of vinyl with 3M
#4. lay on door panel
#5. cut out holes for lock, window button, and door handle.
#6. reinstall door pnael

you didn't spray the 3m on the door also, your supposed to spray it on the surface and the material you are about to lay down, thats what 3m is for, it sticks to itself..it probably wont hold on there very long once it heats up if you didnt spray both sides, but ive never tried it like that so i cant be certain

i did spray both surfaces, forgot to mention that.

Hmmm i think i've saw another member on this board do this mod with stuff called Ultra Suede?

that material is alot nicer than vinyl.... anyone mind doing some reasearch and see the avaliability of that material?

That material is the same stuff used in Lexus's interior..

ahh ok, ya it sticks ALOT better if you spray both sides since it sticks to itself. supposedly after it dries it isnt supposed to stick to anything BUT itself.

some other guy has red interior, man i want that kinda mod too

some other guy has red interior

That would be me and it was only one door and it was also temporary.

I just ordered red suede for all 4 doors. I will take pics of the finished product when I am done next week sometime.

Hopefully I can do this and make it look good because the suede was $36 a yard (I only need one yard).

im having problems getting the edges to stay put

A friend of mine told me to cut small slits into the "crack" and push some material through that. I know we can't put too many slits in the door because it will break, but I was thinking of maybe one inch slits every six inches.

Let me know how it goes, so I don't make the same mistakes.:D

I just bought it today.

Total shipped price was $46.96.

Price per yard was 35.99

Thats where I got it from. Its a little darker than the car but I think it will look good. The STI has a darker blue suede interior and it looks fantastic on the WR Blue exterior.
