Hello my name is Gustavo and I just moved to pompano beach,FL I'm looking into getting a ms6. Trying to do some research and see what I'm getting into. It's either I get a evolution or ms6. But it's way to hard to find an unmodded evolution. I've been a Nissan guy pretty much most my life. I've had a 91 sentra se-r,350z,4 s13 240sx and my 08 nissan frontier work truck.

welcome!

Well as you look for those two cars keep in mind they are not even in the same catagory as eachother.

MS6 = touring car (comfort) + a bit of power
Evo = much less comfort + way more power oriented

If you do a lot of long distance driving, MS6 will be a ideal car for you. It's comfortable and reliable. Could say that its a more mature type of car.
If you like a stiff ride but heap (HEAPS!) of fun, Evo will be prefect for you. IMO 'slightly modified' Evo are better than stock. I like to think slight mods are minor upgrades to improve the overall engine performance & looks eg, coliovers & air filter pods etc...
Judging from the cars you have own before, I reckon you would prefer the Evo. Which Evo are you looking at? 8, 9 or 10?

Why not test drive both and see which you prefer?

Good luck mate.

I've driven 8,9 and 10 evolutions. I do go on long road trips from time to time. The ms6 has a better interior by far. I just need to take ms6 around the track to see what it can do.

I keep hearing of these evolutions and their lack of comfort. Is it just the absence of leather seats? Clutch isn't designed well? What's the issue with them?

Well pretty much all lancers have the same interior. They just throw racing seats in the evolution. The stock clutch isn't to bad you just can't make much power with it. If you get an evolution RS model you don't get power anything not even ABS.

They perform, OK. Not great. I track my MS6 every few months, and reckon i have another $2k before it hits its limit for handling. You'll be spending a lot more money to make your car track worthy than an Evo.

partially due to the MS6 weight, and partially due to the lack of rally car background.
For what it is, i think it handles fairly well. I have done a good amount of work so far for tracking, but will be improving it for a couple at LEAST another full year of work.

But alas, i will re-emphasize that tehy are two DIFFERENT catagory cars.
the evo was MADE for power & track/rally. The MS6 was made for the everyday commuter who wants some spirited power every now and then.

but the MS6 can still be fun on the track! I enjoy it:

Bad ass.I was reading somwhere about weak diff bolts on the ms6. Have you had any problems with your diff?

aye, of the few common problems... weak rear diff bolts are one of em.
They would sometimes completely sheer the bolts, and in other cases crack the mount all-together.

However, this is only from those that really womp on their car (launch daily, drag race, tracking, autoX).
So if you plan on doing any of those things regularly, a simple rear diff mount upgrade will be a great preventative first step.

It is something i have to do next year. So far no problems *knocks on wood*.

Well I just found the car I wanted with all the options I wanted. I've been car shopping for 2 years already and never could find an evolution I liked.
